I went to Aldi's on Raeford Rd to buy 2 cartons of fresh strawberries. Earlier, I had gone to a different grocery store and their berries we're $5.00 a quart. No way would I spend that much-- plus they were more white than ripe. I was standing in the competitor's produce department deciding what to do next. An employee approached me and asked if he could help me. I explained my situation and the results were right out of Miracle on 34th Street. He suggested that I go to Aldi's. With Christmas the next day, I intended to buy the strawberries and leave. I ended up buying $500.00 worth of food and gifts. WHAT???. It started with getting 5 packages of Reese's peanut butter cups, 5 Kit Kat's, 5 beef jerkies, 5 chocolate covered cherries. I bought such an assortment of Christmas, seasonal, and traditional snacks. I bought 5 boxes of microwave popcorn, so I had to buy 5 popcorn seasonings. I had so much fun. And, like out of Pay It Forward, I asked a young man and woman if they could help me load my car. I offered to pay them and they absolutely refused and wished me a Merry Christmas. That evening, my 13 year old granddaughter and I started a new tradition. I bought 5 huge vinyl shopping bags at the Christmas Tree Store for a dollar each. We set up an assembly line and divvied up the goodies. With 12 family members as recipients of the bags, the average gift was $42.00 a person. They even received tiered wire baskets for fresh produce...plus coffee, and hot chocolate, and black-eyed peas to ensure a proper New Year. Each bag was filled to the brim. My relatives even received bonus bags plus a pretty, butterfly adorned vinyl bag. All together, there were at least 15 items in each bag, plus the bonus bags. We all received a great haul for Christmas and Alexis and I decided that Aldi's will be a part of our Christmas tradition for years to come. Yes, the gifts were fun and materialistic, but they were also nutritious and practical--cashews, pistachios, and Apple Chips. More importantly, I spent time with my "grand". Aldi's was the perfect place for this spontaneous project to be born because they offer such a diverse selection of international and domestic products. I found a tastey bottle of sparkling wine that I included in the bonus bag. My niece opened hers to share a toast for her dad whose birthday is the next day. By the way, the strawberries we're affordable--two quarts for $5.00 and the strawberry-cheesecake trifle was abundantly successful. Aaannd...I bought 5 potted amaryllis bulbs as special gifts for special friends. Great selection. Great value....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst time experience in this store today. Haven't been to an Aldi's in over 8 plus years. Went into this fine establishments the reason why they only got two stars. Was because of how clean the store was and organized. They could have got five stars if only the cashier would have known a job that she was supposed to do. I see they have machines checking you out which is fine with me I do self check out all the time but when I went to go pay for my item I had cash on me to pay for it and the machines was not accept cash first problem then I was paying with the EBT card so when I asked the young man can he help me he said the cashier was going to help me that I couldn't ring up cash over at the machine understood when I asked the cashier okay I already paid for my food items I just have to pay the $5 for the cash item so I can go she told me that I will have to void out everything I told her why would you have to avoid out everything she couldn't answer a simple question and she caught kind of an attitude. Love the store love the prices but the bad attitude I only want good customer service where I pay my...

Refused to acknowledge me and just gave me a weird look when I asked how she was, but smiled and thanked everyone else. Snatched the cart from me to put back on her side while I was still unloading it, causing my finger nail to get pulled. Also make sure you go before 2-3pm or items will be gone and NO restocking will be done whatsoever. Not to mention she overcharged me on several items. Ex. I got 2 canned soups for .50 each and 3 (about 4 times as big as the canned soup so there was no mistaking) cans or baked beans. For about a 1.50 each. She proceeded to charge me for 5 cans of baked beans and 0 cans of soup. Same issue with the wax melts I purchased. Bought 3 that were on clearance for $1 each and 1 that was $2.50. She then thought it was a good idea to charge me for 4 of the ones for 2.50. Both extremely different brands and products so even if it was the same price she should be scanning individually for inventory purposes. Definitely hope to not see her there during...
