I go there to find foods from Eastern Europe, from all over Europe. Most of times their products are ok. Like 60-80% of times, unfortunately, and also if you know what to look for to know if it is good or not so good. I have been going there for years to get this or that. I learned early to look for expiration dates there… I got used to seeing mostly the same sales people, so sometimes I ask if this is fresh or something like that. Don't. These sales people work same way as in old Soviet Union. They lie. I don't know what takes to get an honest answer from them. There (in USSR) you had to be someone special or bribe well to get decent stuff. Here - what do I do? In the last 6-7 years I got spoiled food: cheeses, headcheese, stale bread and candy, old chocolates, ravioli (pelmeni) that made people sick, canned green peas that were spoiled, bad fish and cans of caviar that was bubbling out like champagne when opened, canned and frozen mushrooms that were bad. I started asking “if this is fresh” lately. It doesn't help much because only one young girl answers honestly. Others - lie, and very convincingly. Also, I stepped into this store one time about 10 minutes before their closing time not realizing it. They asked me to leave because “they were closing”. Then these two sales women stood in a parking lot for a long time chatting while I sat in my car, watched them and wondered if I was back in Soviet Union… Not a good...
Read moreI bought cottage cheese 2 days ago in this store. One package had no expiration date so I asked the cashier and she said the cottage cheese is fresh they pack it every three days. And another cottage cheese package I got had expiration date good until 8/10. Well today I opened both of them, the one that had expiration date and should be good had a bad expired smell. And the cottage cheese that I was told by the store worker is fresh, had green mold in it. This store is known for selling expired foods but wasn't expecting to find mold! Horrible, even under the new management doesn't...
Read moreBe sure to watch the expiration date. At the cash register they had these German chocolates which I love so I got 4 of them. They were $2 each so $8 for all. I opened one up when I got home and they were stale. So I check expiration date and what do you know? Expired 4 months ago. They weren’t at the register because they were a new or featured product but because they wanted to sell them ASAP as they...
