Full experience:
My computer was at best buy for a month in order to figure out a problem and fix it. This problem was relatively complex, so I do not necessarily fault that entire month on Best Buy's end, although from what I gather the repair people working on my computer were only in there working on the computer for about half of the days. I have no doubt that this issue would have been resolved far faster anywhere else. After that month, the version of windows that was installed needed a new key. After calling Best Buy for an hour they told me that I had to bring in the computer to resolve the issue, even though all I needed was a key in order to make the computer work. After making an appointment and bringing in the computer, I was emailed a day later, where I was informed by the technician that when new motherboards are installed, they can require a new windows key, which they incorrectly told me that I could purchase for between 5-10 dollars. I strongly believe that this portion of the response was generated by generative AI. After this, I called for around an hour trying to get in touch with anyone who could explain to me why I would need to pay for a key when the communication led me to believe that the Windows 11 program would come with everything else I was purchasing in order to upgrade my computer and eliminate any potential issues. After an hour I finally got in touch with a technician who, instead of explaining to me why he made this error, got mad at me for trying to tell him how to do his job, when even by his own admission he had 0 idea that there would need to be a new key installed on the computer. Instead of best buy trying to take some amount of accountability on this issue, every step of the process fought to stick me with the cost of a key. Between the entire month that they had my computer in the first place, and the resolution to the windows key issue, I left being extremely dissatisfied and would not recommend anyone else go through this experience ever.
I do not fault the repair people at all, as I think they are very likely overworked and underpaid for what they are doing, but the system that best buy has in place for computer repairs leads to computers being stuck in the system for a longer time if there is an influx, and leads to the workers having to deal with a lot of grumpy customers, which they are obviously going to respond poorly to.
If you read all of this and are still thinking about going here for repairs PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE go someplace where they will treat you like a human with a problem instead of like a cog in their machine. You will be so thankful that you did so. The people who were working at best buy did give me genuine help, and I don't believe that they intended to screw me on the key thing, but it's very clear that you could receive way better service somewhere else for only slightly more money. Maybe instead of yelling at you for trying to get what you think is fair, you might have someone who knows ahead of time what the actual costs of a repair might be and who is willing to either explain those issues to you when they do come up without having to go through 10 other people or who is willing to make things right when they say something mildly deceptive...
Read moreThis is going to be a fun one!!! Go here on 8-5-2023 Buy 2 computer monitors and a blue yeti mic. Get the monitors home put them in my computer room and proceeded to do things I need to. Please keep in mind my computer room door is never open unless I am in said room. Get busy Sunday to prepare for an upcoming birthday party for my twins so can’t open the monitors till Monday after work. Open the first monitor it works great no issues whatsoever ever. Open the second monitor crack down the right and side of my screen. So it is now 8-7-2023 2 days after I buy the monitors. So I’m within my 15 day return window. I tone the broken monitor and everything that was in the box back to the store to have them exchange my monitor. Please keep in mind I live 45 mins away from this store. The manager on duty says I will not return this item as there is no damage done to the box or monitor it self that would have caused the crack. I stated to her that the person who packed the monitor could very easily have broke the screen when it was packed they could have even dropped something on it before it was put in the box. She sates this could be true but I don’t know that so tuff luck you are out $260. After calling the call center who was no help I go back into Best Buy and ask for the general managers number. I was handed a business card with the numbers of the general manager. It is now the next day 8-8-2023 and I call and leave a message for the GM. Since then I have called the GM every half hour to try to speak to them. 2 times during this day I was forced straight to voice mail so I know they were taking calls. So I advise you save your time and your money and just go right next door to staples and buy anything you may need from them and skip this store completely. It’s sad that a GM of the store will not even talk to a long term buyer of Best Buy items. I will be returning my other 2 items to them tomorrow morning and taking my...
Read moreEvery visit to the store is a dread these days. If there was another electronics store in town selling ok-ish PC gear, I would go there. Unwelcoming, indifferent staff is the worst. Universally, the personnel makes a point to show that you are not welcome here. They look at you like they are doing you a favor when you ask them anything or (god forbid) you want to buy a product. One time I counted at least five managers on the floor aimlessly wandering around while I was waiting for someone to just tell me what phone is in stock. Then, I asked for help at the entrance where three managers were happily chatting with each other. 15 min later I was finally allowed to talk to a person to discover that unless you want to buy the most expensive models on the market, you cannot get it in store. You guys are supposed to approach the customer, not the other way around! Also, what's the point of showing all these shiny plastic bricks on the display if you know you cannot sell those? If I need to order something to be delivered, I go to an online store (and most likely not BestBuy).
Just today, I came to buy something small only to face an empty check-out desk. An employee was standing not far in direct sight of me but chose to intensely look at their phone pretending not to see me. A couple of other employees just passed by looked at me and turned away. I get you could be busy, but does it hurt so bad to call someone to help a customer? After 10 min of waiting, just as I was about to say "the heck with it, I will order on Amazon", I was blessed by the presence of an incapable manager who could not ring me up as I had the audacity to present a tax-exempt purchase card (I was shopping for my job). So, even more time was wasted (with extra irrelevant chatter). It really feels like in-store customers are not welcome anymore. Now, I only go to this place in urgent cases, and only when I have no other choice....
