Lather Barbershop — Local services in Flat Rock

Was in the area at a local store and saw this cute barber shop. My son needed a hair trim but had held off for a long time because of bad past experiences with having too much cut off. We love supporting local businesses, so we decided to give them a shot. The ladies were very welcoming and accommodated a 'walk in' even though busy. The decor and atmosphere were unique, festive, and fun. Their front shelves in the waiting area were doned with nice male styling products and a fridge with cold beer, soda, and even drinks for kids. The hairstylist was very kind and listened to what my son was asking for. He was not disappointed. She actually gave him just a trim and even gave him pointers on hair care for his long locks. She even styled his hair in a braid for no extra cost. Decently priced at only $15. A must try for guys if you need a haircut or trim. We will definitely be returning for...

Horrible customer service. Had an appointment with Cass. Appointment was at 230 walked in at 225. First time at this place. I spotted the lady that was suppose to do my beard trim and nose wax. Ok so my appointment is at 230 she has her back to me and then someone she knows walks right in signed in then walked over to her chair sat down and she started on him. Why have appointments?? That’s fine customer service is a big part for me and I believe in tipping for service they do for me. I will and would not ever go back. I really hate that more then anything making appointment and then just having someone just walk in and they attend to them before because they know each other. I came in looking like a half-plucked chicken and left looking like a man who definitely knows how to change a tire in under 5 minutes. Emily didn’t just cut my hair—she summoned the ancient spirits of precision, style, and sass.

She asked what I wanted, and I said, “Make me look like I have my life together.” Boom. Ten minutes later, I looked like I pay my taxes early and drink coffee black with purpose.

Not only is Emily a wizard with the clippers, but she’s also got the chair-side humor of a seasoned stand-up comic. I laughed, I cried, I got a hot towel that made me question every poor haircut decision I’ve ever made.
