Robyn, my sales associate, was helpful and polite while I was shopping at the Flint, Miller Rd store. After purchasing a power recliner couch for $2,500 I discovered that the remote control had not been included. The owners manual, provided to me by Value City Furniture, confirmed that this couch does include a remote control. After multiple phone calls with the Flint Michigan, Miller Rd Value City Furniture store I was told by my sales associate Robyn and the store manager that the remote control for this couch was missing when it was delivered to the store. When I asked if the missing part could be ordered they told me no and didn't offer any explanation as to why. I even offered to pay for the missing remote control but they told me they could not order it for me.
After some research (less than 5 minutes on Google) I myself was able to identify the manufacturer of the couch. I called them and they confirmed (as did the owners manual) that the couch I purchased from Value City Furniture at 4577 Miller, Rd in Flint, Michigan does include a remote control. I should emphasize that this remote control provides functionality and control of features that cannot be adjusted otherwise. So, in order for all features and functions of the couch to be utilized the remote control is required! I also confirmed with the manufacturer that Value City can purchase a replacement remote control for the couch.
UPDATE: A few months have passed now and I have purchased 3 more pieces of furniture for my home. I chose NOT to purchase them from the Miller Rd, Flint Michigan Value City Furniture store because of how staff and management there handled or rather mishandled the situation with my missing remote control. A quick call to corporate or less than 5 minutes on Google would have yielded a phone number to call and order the missing remote control. That in-turn would have maintained a positive customer experience and relationship that ultimately would have brought me back to the store to spend another $3,000 plus on more furniture. That would have also resulted in this being a much more positive review.

Read moreWe bought furniture on 4/1 and the expected delivery date was 4/18 for the couch and loveseat. The recliner was delayed until 6/23. We knew this and agreed when we purchased.
Couch and loveseat were delayed and delivered on 5/23 and the couch was broken (the recliner would not retract in.) The loveseat also has a center armrest that isnt centered but one thing at a time. (Picture below.) We called and they scheduled a repair company to come out and fix it on 6/6 between 10am-2pm. At 12pm on 6/6 the repair company called and said he was having break problems but would reschedule. So I took a day off work for no reason.
Annoyed, we called Value City and they tried to right the wrong and offered to just send out a new couch when they deliver the recliner on 6/25. Fine.
Fast forward to last week and we get the confirmation that delivery will be 6/25, don't miss their call or we could get bumped. Blah blah blah. 6/25 rolls around and I call wondering where the recliner and couch is. I am told that the recliner is out of stock, again until 7/6 and the couch is back ordered until August. The ops manager left a note saying she called but I have no missed calls or voicemails.
I wait 2 hours for Tim (manager) to call me back and he is about as usless as possible and says "if you aren't happy, come shop and find a new set." Sir. No. I am not waiting another possible 5 months of furniture. Or he can give us a $200 refund on a $2400 set.
We are returning the full set and will take our business elsewhere.
Below is a picture of the arm rest, the video of the broken couch...
Read moreI do not recommend this store to anyone looking to purchase furniture. We had such a bad experience and do not wish it upon anyone like us that spent hard earned money on furniture for their home.
We bought a love seat and sofa set last September 2024 on a memorial day sale and payed for it in full and had a very nice and pleasant experience in the store with our wonderful sales person nancy. After that about two weeks later the delivery men showed up with the love seat and sofa set we purchased and were surprised while installing it to find that the love seat had two missing side pieces on each side. The delivery men had informed us that someone had lost them while loading the trucks and apologised and left.
It has been now approximately a year of back and forth with several customer service employees and branch managers. And finally after thousands of different excuses and delays they finally called us today (29th of June,2025) to pick up the sides.
Keep in mind they offered us a refund for the delivery and installation of the furniture fee ( around 150 dollars i believe). Not to mention at some point someone there claimed the pieces were attached to the nottom of the love seat 🤣🤣.That was about it though and no one there really seemed sympathetic with our frustration besides shella. She gave me the two side pieces today and i appreciate her very much.
Other than that if you ever have an issue, customer service and follow up is horrible.
