To sum it up, my best friend moved out of state a few years ago and anytime she visits, Golden Moon is always our first stop. The egg rolls have no business being as amazing they are. I usually don't like egg rolls, and I think it's because Golden Moon raised my expectations so high. For a good price, I can get an entree that lasts for two meals, so I definitely make sure to order an extra egg roll with my takeout. I remember going here as a little kid and being entranced by the aquarium. It's not as enormous to my adult eyes, but the resident fish still makes me smile. Over the decades, my dining partners and I have made some weird special requests and nobody has ever batted an eye. Fried rice with no onion and extra baby corn? Sure. No MSG? No problem! Unbattered chicken in the sweet and sour chicken? All right. Low spice in the cashew chicken? Coming right up! I will say that our experiment with egg battering tofu for almond boneless "chicken" didn't work out so well, but it was our dumb idea and the chefs were more than willing to try it for us. The staff is so nice and the restaurant is so comfortable. It has a very homey feel, except it's cleaner than my home :-) Honestly, I could just sing the praises of Golden...
Read moreThey’re getting ready to celebrate 40 years serving delicious food. I usually come here for lunch and order the sizzling rice soup for two but this is my first time ordering something different. I got to have a late lunch with my mom.
We decided on the Combo for Two which includes entrees of Steak Pow and Almond Chicken. I asked to substitute the almond for the Cashew Chicken as that’s what I was craving. So much was included for a mere $30 including hot tea, 2 soups (Wonton is tasty) and 2 egg rolls. The Cashew Chicken was fresh with nicely cooked chicken chunks and plenty of cashews. I have to say that I really enjoyed the Steak Pow. I’d never even heard of it but so glad we were introduced today. Served alongside the entrees was a separate dish of chicken fried rice. Sooo good and the chicken wasn’t dried out. I can’t say how many times the chicken in the chicken fried rice has been dry and old tasting from other establishments.
Service is always consistently courteous and the inside is cozy especially if you sit in one of the booths. I’ll be back and possibly try something different but may just get a craving for...

The plum sauce and hot mustard are to die for. When you dine in, they give you wonton chips. So good! I love to dip them in plum sauce. You can’t go wrong with either wonton soup or egg drop soup. I love the egg drop—it’s thick and silky. Their egg rolls are a must try, too, specifically the filling and wrap make them stand out. Crispy, tender, flavorful!
My favorite is the Szechuan Beef. It’s elite and stands out over any other I’ve had. The sauce is tasty and the right thickness. I also like the Cashew Chicken. They’re generous with the cashews, and again, the sauce is just right. The meats are high quality, too.
Not only is the food stellar, but the service is, as well. It’s clear this is a family operation and they truly care about your experience. I’ve found they remember a lot of guests! Which is so kind. It’s like stepping in to a warm hug when I walk in, even after being out of the area for a few years. I think the fish even remembered me. 🤩
11/10 would recommend! My pictures don’t do the food justice. This is a Flint...
