Went in looking for some Magic cards to finish a couple decks that I have been working on. I asked to look through a few binders behind the counter. One of the employees, Preston, was incredibly helpful and would retrieve any binder that I asked to look at, he priced out some cards that were not yet priced, an ultimately helped to facilitate everything that I had come into the store to do.
The other employee, James, was incredibly unhelpful and rude. He sat on a stool in the corner the entire time that I was there either with his arms crossed, or looking at his phone. When I asked if I could swap out one binders for a different one that I wanted to see he said, âNope.â Thinking that he was joking and that he would get up and grab the binder, I replied, âWell thatâs unfortunate.â To which he responded, âWelcome to planet Earth.â
What a rude, sarcastic, miserable, and disrespectful man. And this isnât the first time that this particular employee has been unhelpful or rude, or responded with some snide comment.
I remember going to Comic Book World back in the nineties. This is a place I have visited off and on for easily 25 years. A lot of locals talk about how they had been going to Comic Book World for years, or how they used to love going in, but more and more all I hear is people talking about the poor customer service or the bad attitudes.
James seems like he hates his job, and personally I donât understand why the owner pays him to sit around and do seemingly nothing. He made me feel very unwelcome and disrespected.
I think my money may be better spent online...
Read moreBeautiful, large, well lit facility. Very organized and clean. Lots of cool RPG gaming stuff, although I couldn't find much Palladium/Rifts stuff on my early visit, now they have a ton of them. There was all kinds of fun looking Warhammer stuff. Friendly guy at the checkout counter. Nice selection of back issues. Price compared to condition was excellent, and nothing was crazy out of bounds. Did find a couple of nice deals. Tons of boxes stuffed under the tables, and all of them are available for purchase. Don't think I saw any boxes that were not for sale... I have had an issue at another store that had a bunch of unmarked boxes not available for purchase, so I've been keeping my eye out for that since then. It's nice when things are clearly labeled with prices and labels and stickers, etc. Thanks for having...
Read moreStopped in this past week and didnât get the warm and fuzzy feeling I use to when I was younger. I asked for help from someone out on the floor and they vaguely suggested an area but did not follow through with ensuring I found what I was looking for. I understand that individual potentially just came back from an illness with him wearing a mask. I was also wearing dirty work clothes and a camo hat so I probably donât fit their typical customer look. Did have a pleasant conversation with one of the clerks behind the counter reminiscing about Yu gi Oh days of old. He informed me they rarely if ever carried what I was looking for but gave me some direction to other stores. I hope the entire staff gets back to full health and a brighter disposition to any and all customers that walk...
