I had the beef suqar my daughter had chicken suqar and my wife had lamb... We all had rice, salad, sambusa, and the tea... All of it was excellent although I preferred the suqar which is like a stew...but the lamb has the bones in it which is more difficult to eat around (but common with lamb) still good but on your first trip I'd pick a suqar. The sambusa... Man good stuff... Got some to go hope to pop them in my toaster oven with lunch tomorrow. The rice is very flavorful and the salad I'm not sure what dressing was on it but also served with a slice of lemon and it was simple yet great. The tea... I don't like tea but thought out 2 so I gave mine to my daughter who is older than she looks and they brought me another and insisted it was good so I tried it... It's not good it's great... I'd drink this over hot chocolate... Didn't expect to like it... But I love it.
Highly recommend this place... It's not "fancy" so not a great first date place but the service is excellent, place is clean and...
Read moreWent here with a friend to try Somalian food, I’ve never tried it before. I ordered a watermelon juice drink with the beef suqar and my friend ordered chicken suqar. The food took a while to come out, we were waiting for about 20 minutes, when the food came out we thought it would be hot but it wasn’t. My beef was almost not even warm, the rice was warm and of course the salad was cold. The beef didn’t have a lot of flavor, the rice was okay and the salad I wasn’t a fan of. I also tried my friends chicken and it wasn’t dry which was good and the flavor was okay. The one thing that I did love ablut this place was the hot sauce. It was good! Another thing I didn’t like is the gentleman at the register was taking the order of someone who has never been there , he started talking to the guy, then answered a phone call while the guy was standing there looking around and waiting ,then he took his order. I thought...
Read moreWhat a fantastic little gem of a restaurant! Tucked away in a strip mall the outside and inside are unassuming. Decorations and ambiance are stark but we didn't come for ambiance. We came for great food and that is what we got.
We walked in and were greeted with a huge smile. The owner is incredibly kind and walked us through the menu and gave suggestions for us first-timers. I had the steak stew and my husband the chicken stew and both were outstanding!! The rice was out of this world. The portions are large and the food is full of flavor. Dinner was finished off with a cup of tea that was akin to a spiced chai but with a hint of orange. It was delicious. Come for the food, the hospitality and great service and you'll leave with a full belly, a smile on your face and a new go-to restaurant for delicious, authentic...
