Galactic Comics — Local services in Florence

I don’t live in the Pee Dee area. In fact, I don’t live in the United States. My parents reside in the area and when I visit them, I’m always heading out to local comic shops. Recently I got word from my parents that a new store opened in the Florence area. At the time my parents informed me of this information, I was in Brazil, and desperately searching for a book I needed to add to my collection. My mom contacted Galactic Comics and not only did they have the book I was looking for, but they also held a copy for me so my mother could swing by and pick it up for me. My mother later told me that the people at the store were incredibly kind and friendly. Well, I just arrived home to visit my parents for a few weeks and I had a chance to visit the store two days ago. I was in heaven. I am a serious collector, so I was thrilled to see books from several publishers. It’s not just Marvel and DC books...it’s Valiant, Image, Dark Horse, et cetera! To put the icing on the cake, the back issues are rife with excellent titles for very fair prices. When I arrived at the counter to pay for the books I had the pleasure to meet the owner, and he was one of the most affable and genial store owners I’ve ever met. He asked me about living abroad and I could see he was completely sincere. In other words, he wasn’t being friendly just to drum up business. He’s a legitimately kind person, and that’s who I prefer doing business with. I’ll be home for a few more weeks and I’ll probably visit Galactic Comics, every day I’m here! ...

My husband, my sister, and I visited Galactic Comics for the first time a couple weeks ago. And let me just say- it did NOT disappoint. In fact, not only did it not disappoint, it literally made my entire weekend (and it was a spur of the moment trip when we passed by- to think we could’ve missed out a great experience had we decided to do something else!) Not only did I find what I was looking for, we all walked away with literal boxes of (what we would consider) COMIC GOLD. I’ve been a comic book reader for 10 years and I have NEVER been able to find so many books in such great condition in one store. That alone was AWESOME. But to top it off, the workers/owners there are so incredible. Honestly. They were very helpful with everything and they were so friendly too. We are excited to visit the new location, they have gained three more customers for sure! I couldn’t imagine going anywhere else to satisfy my comic cravings!

We came from Sumter with over 150 comics. He looked through them and said there were 4 worth money. He offered $20 for those and nothing for the rest as he said they are filler stock. We feel like he took advantage of us becuase we spent over 100 dollars on his stock to complete our collections. Didn't give a discount for the comics he deemed filler stock. I really feel he took advantage of us considering we went buying so much. He also assisted in finding the ones we needed to complete our collection and gave us comics that didnt even go with that collection on two different sets. Would not recommend this establishment. And would really like some of our money back. He is the expert he shoukd kbow what comics go with what sets. We lost out on 40 dollars just on the two sets that he picked the collects on.
