Few things are irritating me to the point I almost want to cancel my membership. Thatās on the table. The staff is strange and sometimes weird. Iāll give an example.. in the middle of the day one of the locker room attendance was emptying out trash bins in the locker room. Most of them were less than 25% full, including the one directly in front of my legs, as Iām standing there with a razor to my face shaving at the sink. Why on earth do you think itās acceptable to try and pull the trashcan out from under the counter 6 inches from me standing there without any clothes on?? it was not the last trashcan in the room. He could have waited until I was finished. Maintenance issues. The main lap pool area smells like natural gas especially right at the locker room entrances. I donāt care what their excuse is, itās unpleasant. Why do we feel the need to do construction on the sauna during business hours? I donāt want to hear jackhammering while Iām trying to relax in the hot tub or a cold bath next to it. Thatās just a couple examples. Cleanliness issues. You cannot even see into the water in the hot tub because thereās so many bubbles in the chemical smell is so bad that it burns your eyes if youāre in there for a long time. I said something a few times about that and it never seems to be cleared up. The menās area could benefit from a few quick hose downs throughout the course of the day. Letās walk down the shower walkway and just spray a hose on the floor towards the drains at least to get rid of the piled up gunk The floor is disgusting. Same with the steam room. You walk in and immediately have to avoid places to sit and step. The next one is a combination of staff and cleanliness. I understand the concept of them cleaning the showers at the end of the day, but can it wait until after closing time? Itās consistently in the way during the end of the day cleaning , soap all over the floor making it slippery, not knowing what showers can be used, tripping on the many hoses and machine while a bunch of people are trying to leave before closing time.
Other members.. and kind of a commentary on society.. I am not holding this against lifetime but how do we teach middle age men to shower before the hot tub and pool, and CONTROL WHATEVER IS LODGED IN THEIR THROAT AT A REASONABLE VOLUME in high echo areas (locker room, large empty pool room, steam room, sauna). Itās so flipping unpleasant listening to constant hacking, coughing, throat clearing, nose blowing (where is it going??), repetitive gum chewing and nut job rocking movements on creaky boards, locker room loudmouths, and so on, in literally every area thatās not the work out room or outside. STOP IT! Quit...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am actually a member of the Las Colinas Lifetime but I visit the Flower Mound club every now and then for a change of scenery and to play against unfamiliar pickleball players in a different venue. Altogether, I've been a Lifetime member off and on going back to 2003, and while there's always plenty of comparison and criticism from members, there isn't a better fitness operation around.
Even though I don't go to this location often, I'm very comfortable with its layout because it's pretty much identical to my old club in Columbus, Ohio. While I have not taken any classes at Flower Mound, it is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need and want in a club. In addition to the multitude of weights, classes, personal training, and treadmills, it also has a recovery area which, although smaller than Las Colinas, offers the massage chairs, cryo chairs and leg compression found at my home club. The #1 reason I belong to Lifetime from an amenities standpoint is because of recovery/rejuvenation - that alone is worth the price of admission. I love that Flower Mound took one of its two hot tubs in the main lap pool area and converted it to a cold plunge - so it's worth the trip when I go over there to play pickleball and then go to the tubs.
As for pickleball itself, the courts are next to the basketball court as they occupy part of what was once a full area devoted to hoops. The courts are side by side and have no dividers. Last time I was there the club left a basket of balls that everyone plucked from when they didn't want to chase down a ball from their court, which I don't think is a great fix as you end up with tons of balls lying around that someone could step or trip on. As for the pickleball experience itself, the players are friendly, the space is a bit humid, sometimes there's an attendant there - sometimes not. The experience is the equivalent of what you'll find at a municipal operation like Wagon Wheel in Coppell or L.B. Houston - smaller parks with some programming, except that Lifetime is indoors with fewer courts. I don't get the impression it's run very well, or that it's a top club priority, but it's good enough to work into my playing routine from time to time when I want to change it up.
Overall, the Flower Mound Lifetime, based on the time I've spent there, is an excellent health and fitness choice packed with value no matter your...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBUYER BEWARE!!!! I could give no stars, I would but it wasn't an option. This company is money hungry and about making money. When they want your business, they are quick to sign you up, rush the contract and not tell you the fine print and get your credit card number. Sometimes you don't even have to come in to sign the contract for changes that increase the charges, BUT when it comes to cancelling or choosing a lower payment plan, they make it difficult for the member and make them come in to sign the cancellation contract...no exceptions. They're rude about it also and if you have a dispute, the manager is "busy and on the phone" and I'm told she will call me back after filling out a form what my complaints were about. She did not call me back and I called and I left a long message about wanting a refund for charges I was not informed me about. She called me back when I was at work (and unable to answer the phone) and she acted dumb on her voice message about not knowing what I wanted. I even filled out a complaint form addressed to her telling what I wanted. I called tonight and she had left at 7pm....I was told management doesn't leave until 9pm but apparently, she left at 7pm. I was given the run around and finally had to dispute the charge with my credit card. This isn't the first time this has happened They charged almost $1000 when the pushy salesperson said I needed a personal trainer (which me and my daughter was not impressed with) and when I asked if I could break down the payments, the salesperson asked his boss who acted pissed off and said they would break it into two payments only. This place is a scam and the club is not that great and certainly NOT worth the price. They do the classic bait and switch and keep upping the membership every year. Also my beautiful 22 year old daughter went late at night and was hit on by two different workers on different days. REALLY? I told her I was worried about her safety there and go to another club ...
