Today I’m posting a negative I came to the store to purchase 4 saw horses total purchase would have been $160. Normally I come in buy what I need and leave no issue. The issue being I will only use a manned cashier checkout. All were closed and I see self checkout as a negative impact on customer service. So you lost a sale. And paid someone to return product to a shelf. It would be cheaper to keep one cashier at all times.
Thank you for wasting my time. Sincerely a customer that sees self checkout as a loss of labor force replaced by a machine and the customers labor for free.
Another day I actually talked with a manager which had more contradiction to my suggestions or concerns and used an employee call sheet as a visual aid to our conversation. It was mentioned a few times Lowe’s is worse as if that somehow makes failure more palatable! It was also mentioned pros were covered with manned registers I showed my app and my listing as a pro and that I would rather be checked out in the middle where pros like electricians and plumbers (evidently not considered pros) would shop.I went to 5 employees one within 25’ of the tool I was looking to buy. Most were unaware of what a drywall skimming trowel was. I met several people looking for items and HD was clueless. That manager also did not know what a trowel was. Come on man. Hire some retired contractors or something so you can teach some employees.
If I was GM I would be embarrassed. If I was a district manager I would close the store for a week and walk all the employees around the store then test them on all departments and what tools are used for each. I miss my Home Depot in SC.
So In a dark front corner behind stacks of drywall I found drywall tools and not one skimming trowel or mud pan big enough for one. Why is this important you might ask to re- skim a textured wall you need a large trowel and a large mud pan. Larger than here. I’m about to trade my HD Card for an Amazon card and that’s sad. Pictures display a ghost town of unhelped customers and a blocked front center entrance? Fire Safety issue? A second trip that my list was not filled and I left a full cart where no employee can find it with the drywall tools!
2022 update decided to come in and buy 2 items post driver $45 maybe more and a $22 lawnmower blade. Since the items were found on the lawn and garden side I grabbed them and headed to check out. Again people at registers but gated up so to force self checkout. I want to interact with a person not a machine and so I went back to the end where I entered the store. The person behind the counter acted like she was doing a one time favor checking my stuff out and laughed to her coworker. I have shopped several years with Home Depot in another state and this is possibly the worst store I ever tried to do business with. Home Depot got $9000 in business from me last year my resolution this year is to no longer shop at Home Depot. It’s just easier to go to lowes where I can find helpful people and go through regular checkout without the drama. I am planning on spending a lot more money this year and none of it will be at this Home Depot which really needs a class in customer service and retention. You simply cannot stay in business treating customers this way and making the checkout machine forced. Ps this trip I passed several employees and one assistant manager none offered assistance...
Read moreNice people, big store, and found everything I needed. Update 6/5/2022 Shopped Home Depot in Foley, Al. I visited the store about 5:30 pm; good time to shop. Less crowded, and I even found someone to help me out. The Gentleman, a senior, was very kind and knowledgeable about my questions and made sure I was satisfied with my purchase. I also needed a change of address and went to the customer service counter. At the counter, I was taken care of by Toni. Toni handled my request with easy and very quickly. She called the home office HD service center, and my request was handled quickly, and effeciently. I was very pleased with my service request? Update 11/1/22 Home Depot has moved the old familiar items, equipment, merchandise to new locations. Now I have to ask where the are things I was use to look for, to new locations. That's ok, and not a bad thing, because on my 2nd visit, I knew where to go to locate. I must say the displayed materials are much more attractively displayed. Sometimes you have to look for the friendly helpful person, but usually they are not hard to find. Today however, was a challenge, because not only are the looked for items placed in a different location, self checkout has changed the computers to a different screen display, and being above the age of 50; I had to seek help in checking out. There was only 1 person assigned running back and forth answering questions, and having to reset and assist us folks with the NEW computer checkout screen. Boy Howdy took me much longer to find the right keys. As time goes by, the process should improve, but for now be ready to ask for help! Update 5/23/2023 I needed some garden soil and some treatment products to keep cats, squirrels, and those pesky moles from dancing on my flower beds. I found most of my stuff but needed assistance with the best animal and rodent treatment stuff. I didn't want something to injure the little fellers, just look for another yard to mess up. The employee responded, right away, and helped me find the right stuff, with good advice as to how to administer the product to my yard. Checkout was easy, and I got $10 bucks off my purchase of the...
Read moreOk. 1st of all, I love Home Depot. I spend a lot of time and a lot of money here. A LOT! I’m a contractor that works with a large property management company, so we are the go-to “in house” team that the home owners of all of these properties use for their renovations. That being said, idk if it’s just this store in particular, or if this is an issue across the nation., but online orders are; mishandled, mismanaged, shipped wrong, lost, not fulfilled. Anything g that can go wrong. Today for example. I make two online orders for pick up. One extremely simple, the other, a little more involved. So hours and hours pass with no text or e-mail. And then finally at 6:00 pm. I get a message that the easy order is ready for pick up. I also get an email stating that my “slightly more involved” order that cost about $2,300 had been picked up… oh really l? I know I didn’t pick it up. My partner is away on vacation. So who? But that’s just today’s issue. I’ve had to delay jobs and get behind because half of my flooring order has been lost. I’ve had cabinets lost and shipped to the wrong state. I’ve ordered heavy items like appliances or bathroom vanities. Paid for “In home”, as in “inside your door” delivery, just to be told by the delivery guy. “We don’t do that, we aren’t even allowed to” well why in the F is it an option? I’ve had pickup deliveries arrive just to be lost in the store when I arrived to pick up. Even small order are always delivered much later than than advertised. Shop in person get great products. Just don’t order for pick up or use their shipping, and you’ll probably be much better. This has been a persistent problem for the last few years if not longer. A much better system is needed to be implemented at some point. Products and selection 5-STAR. Shilling and handling. 1 star ,...
