Upon arriving to the hotel we stood in the lobby waiting while the front desk person was preoccupied. After we approached the counter the check in person finally processed us in. Since it was late we hurried up to our room so we could go to sleep and get a good nights rest before starting our beach vacation. When we went into the room it was musty smelling. We turned the air conditioner on hoping it would resolve the smell issue, which it did somewhat. My daughter went into the restroom and lifted the lid to the toilet. It fell off as she was lifting it and fell to the floor. She called me into the bathroom and pointed out all the hair in the sink and shower. I assured her we would rinse it down the drain before using and would tell the front desk in the morning. I then went to set up my computer at the desk and had to get on the floor to access the outlet. While I was on the floor I noticed little pieces of trash and what looked like fried chicken crust on the floor. When I stood back up and pulled the chair out to sit down it was covered with the same fried chicken crust looking debris. I swept it out of the seat before logging my computer in for the next day. At that point we went to bed. That was the highlight of the stay. The beds were actually comfortable. When we reported the issues the next day the front desk person went on the attack asking why we didn't report it sooner. We informed the person we had arrived late. They acted indignant saying there was nothing they could do and we should have said something when we checked in. I responded that it should not have been that way for me to have to report it. The desk persons resolution was to call and rehash the incident with my wife and offer 1000 points to my IHG account. This is an insult of a response to finding the room dirty and act like we were to blame for not calling at midnight to report the unclean room. The hotel was at capacity so an alternate room would not have been available. When we got up the next morning we went down to the breakfast. I stay at Holiday Inn on a regular basis with business travel so I am familiar with the food choices which are consistent throughout every Holiday Inn I have stayed. This Holiday Inn was the exception to the rule. It had very limited choices for breakfast items or so I thought. There were egg omelets and bacon the first and second day. No bread other than bagels, pancakes, or toast. When the individual was asked about biscuits the response was an immediate, "No". The only fruit available was bananas, no apples or oranges as found at other Holiday Inns. There were no individual cartons of milk, plain or chocolate as found at other Holiday Inns. The juice machine was malfunctioning and too much water was going into the concentrates they were using for all the selections. On the day we were leaving, which was a Saturday, the breakfast bar was fully stocked with every item. So if you are going to stay at this Holiday Inn don't expect the breakfast to be the same for every day, it's only stocked properly on Saturday and as we found out, on Sunday as well. The rest of the week will be the bare minimum. This is a tough call since the highlight of the stay was the comfortable beds and the housekeeping staff were helpful. Everything else about this hotel and how it runs is in the poor category. If your looking for comfortable beds and that's all, this is your place. If you want the other amenities such as a clean room, friendly staff, and complete...
Read moreOn the morning of Tuesday, January 21, 2025, I made a reservation for the following Friday and Saturday nights at the Holiday Inn Express in Foley/Gulf Shores, Alabama. Later that day, an unprecedented 125-year snow blizzard shut down the entire southern part of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. The following morning, Wednesday, January 22, I realized that travelling from New Orleans to Foley on Friday would most likely not be possible, so I called to cancel the Friday night reservation, but keep the Saturday night reservation. My reason was obvious and understandable; however, I was told that they would not allow my cancellation nor credit my payment for Friday night. Now, I didn’t simply change my mind or choose another of the numerous nearby hotel options available. I wanted to retain my reservation for Saturday, the first day I could drive on a highway and get there. For the following three days, travel on the roads, bridges, and Interstate system was completely shut down due to freezing weather and treacherous conditions. On the third day, travel was limited to only emergency responders, and roads were still impassable. Their rudeness and lack of consideration of the situation that confronted me certainly changed my opinion of the whole Holiday Inn brand. Given the thousands – if not millions - of travelers from Louisiana, Mississippi and beyond that visit this area each year on their way to the Gulf Coast area, one would think that an obvious unavoidable emergency weather situation would be understood and accommodated by a company who claims they pride themselves in being a trusted hospitality brand. Trusted? The next time there might be a hurricane that requires your cancellation. And they won’t allow it. I am sharing this information as a warning to all travelers who might consider a Holiday Inn property, especially in the Gulf Shores, Alabama area.

Read moreBelow is the email I shared with the IHG customer service team. This location is under full construction and should not be allowed to book rooms prior to completion. It is an absolute disaster. The most unenjoyable travel experience I have had and boarder line dangerous. They also have a long way to go with their staff. The response I got back from the email was they were notifying guest of the construction. I was not notified during booking or prior to my stay. I would have stayed somewhere else.
I contacted the customer support line in regards to a more than disappointing stay at your Foley, AL location 3/23/19. They have been the most pleasant part of my experience to date. The loacation we stayed at was under full construction (safety first) with the lobby completely under construction, West entrance hall to the elevators, breakfast room, and much more. There were drop clothes hanging in the elevator that appeared to have some blood on them. The parking lots were full of construction containers. Entrance was propped open with garbage cans with trash falling out of it. My refrigerator did not function properly resulting in me losing the shrimp I had purchased that night. Construction workers looked at us as if we were in the way. When we arrived I asked the front desk attendent are people staying here with it being in this condition and he stated "something in the lines of yes and people like me were paying to stay. The list could continue on and on. I frequent hotels regularly for both business and pleasure and have never seen anything to this level from a customer experience perspective. This is by for my worst experience in any chain. I have attached a few pictures for your review. I am hopeful that this is not acceptable in the eyes of IHG and will be resolved immediately. I would not expect IHG to want this kind of environment or behavior to be a representative of...
