Daniel Jackson is the bees knees. Although I am not currently a student of his, I spent nearly 5 years working with him, through middle and high school. In that time, I improved remarkably as a singer, expanding my vocal range, breath control, tone, and many many more skills. His lessons progressed naturally from the skill level I had, and developed further from there, slowly developing and honing a reporatoire of songs throughout the process.
He lets you pick the songs that you want to sing, and is extrodinarily versatile in building on and developing the skills he teaches through the songs you pick. From time to time he will recommend picking a different song or out right offer a song to try out, and the advice has always been quite beneficial.
From time to time, he will hold a performance showcase, where students can get a chance to perform on stage in front of friends and family. They are completely optional, but I personally reccommend doing it at least once. The atmosphere is relaxed and comforting, and everyone's there to grow and have fun.
Overall Dan really friendly, respectful, supportive, and fun to work with. Super helpful, and great for anyone of any skill level, vocal style, and genre. 10/10 would definately recommend to anyone looking to improve and be more confident as a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOf the 5-7 vocal teachers I've had, Daniel is HANDS-DOWN the best, which is why I've chosen to stay with him for 6 years (last 4 years are online lessons).
He's organized, committed to growing his knowledge of voice physiology + the newest techniques, flexible, and understanding. His scientific explanations about the structure of the vocal folds helped me develop an internal sense of what's actually happening in my throat when I sing. This, paired with his explanations, built my independence/toolbox so that I can troubleshoot even when he's not there! These days, we can work together collaboratively in our lessons, because of how much he's taught me.
Daniel is also extremely adaptable regarding vocal and physical needs, and his versatility has meant that I've grown in ways I never thought I could before. I thought I'd always have a tight, strained voice and limited range, and now I'm hitting notes with an ease I only dreamed was possible.
Awesome, awesome, awesome teacher. Well worth the price he charges. Biggest regret was wasting a year and a half in Davis with another teacher when I could have...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDaniel is awesome! I had regular lessons with him 2-4 times a month for nearly 2 years. I had always sung my whole life, but had let my vocal exercises fall by the wayside in adulthood. He helped me get my voice and confidence back and I'm forever grateful. His training approach is very intuitive and the exercises are tailored toward your specific needs. My 30 minute lessons were very fast-paced and I left each session feeling like my vocal chords had been through a boot camp (in a good way, I promise). But I also heard him with his younger students and how he had a gentler approach with them. Like I said - very intuitive training! I also appreciate the fact that he's constantly educating himself on new techniques and studies. You'll not only learn how to sing, but you'll also learn some really interesting factoids during your lessons to help you become a more educated vocalist. When I concluded my lessons with him, he was beginning to incorporate more music theory into his lessons, which is exciting!
I can't say enough good things about Daniel - He's a great teacher and I wish him the best with...
