I was pretty worried about this event after reading reviews from previous years, but clearly they've taken people's reviews into consideration. I just went to this Ren Faire for the first time this weekend (I usually go to the Casa De Fruta one so that is my reference point) and I think the 3500 person limit really made the event enjoyable. Lines for food will obviously spike at different points in the day, but I had no problem getting food, sitting at the smaller stage shows, or shopping vendor booths at any point in the day. The shows were a lot of fun (special shout outs to Jack Spareribs and the Fowl Tales show) and there was a fantastic variety in vendors. I also appreciated how many more spots they have actors closed off doing little skits throughout the day than the Norcal faire does.
The only thing I really wasn't impressed with was the joust, hence my 4 star rating. There was too much talking and asking for donations in the performance, and the crowd control was nonexistent. Unless you sit down in the front, you absolutely cannot see the show because 1. The show happens way too close to the stands and honestly should be pushed back on the field a bit more for better viewing and 2. People stand right at the front of the bleachers and block everybody behind them (even those of us at the top) which in my opinion should not be allowed.
Despite that one complaint, this Ren Faire was a lot of fun, very whimsical, and such a delight to attend. Highly recommend...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTerrible location. Folsom is not meant to handle that kind of traffic. My advice to you, park somewhere around the out skirts of the zoo, don't follow the traffic of cars to the parking lot. You have to buy tickets online ahead of time. They do not sell tickets at the door. Which is good, but they need to lessen the amount of tickets they sell or find a bigger location to handle the people. Also, bring a small fortune with you. EVERYTHING was expensive. Turkey leg was 21-24$, small meat pie was 10$, scotch egg 8$, gyro/salad/crepe 14$ (the "salad" came with one big piece of lettuce, a couple pieces of lamb and all tomatoes). I did not enjoy myself. Social anxiety kicked in. People are annoying, rude and oblivious to their surroundings (that's not the ren fairs fault). But between that and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTo small of a area for the amount of ppl that visit this event.I went two weeks ago and lined for food weāre at least 50 ppl per line. Some areas you are arm to arm with ppl. Our first time there and the ppl that are there to direct you are paying no attention to guest just on their phones and talking to each.We actually walked pass the entrance n down the hill to the parking area before we noticed it not the right way to go. Asked the attendant where to go and they sent us back up the hill to the entrance. There were no signs of event times and where to go for them. We decided to leave because it was just ridiculous. I will never attend this event...
