First of all, yes, I am a real person. I just spent almost $200 at the Hobby Lobby on S College in Fort Collins; it is Wednesday May 17th and I was in the store around 6:15 pm. Iâm honestly considering returning every item I purchased and then buying it online. I had never been to Hobby Lobby before and was asking about the return policy in the event that the items I bought didnât work for me. The cashier wasnât helpful (or even friendly) & couldnât answer my question. She turned to her co-worker who was an old, thinner, grey haired woman that wore glasses. This old woman immediately went on the defensive and was so incredibly rude to me. She raised her voice and spoke to me in a very disrespectful and condescending manner. I explained that I was just trying to clarify the policy. I had a cart full of various gouache paints, brushes and 5 brands of metallics (paint pens, gold leaf, acrylic paint & mica) that I hadnât used before and wondered if I could return an opened item that wasnât satisfactory, like their local competitor does. Again, this older woman spoke to me in such a snotty manner & then proceeded to call the manager over, like I was causing a problem. I saw her talking to the on-duty manager & overheard the way in which she was representing me & my inquiry. She made it sound like I was trying to get away with something. At this point, Iâm pretty irritated & went over to the manager to ask her directly since the older woman was behaving so unprofessionally. I was finally given some clarity by the manager but I canât say that she was particularly friendly either. I paid for my items & left. I donât understand why I was treated this way. It makes me wonder if I was being judged by my appearance; I have visible piercings and had come from work with my hair in a sloppy ponytail and was wearing old jeans. I honestly canât think as to what it would be otherwise. Perhaps this is just the overall demeanor of this woman or she just hates her job? Regardless of the reason, she was so unbelievably rude and this employee needs to either retire or find work that doesnât interface with the public. I wish I had gotten her name. If I had, I would share it. This will be the last time I set foot inside another Hobby Lobby. Iâll be up the road...
   Read moreI love the store. They constantly have sales on items I need. Prices are somewhat overpriced to begin with, especially when I can go to Dollar Tree and get the same (or more) for little to nothing, but I get it.
The reason I am giving 3 âď¸ only is due to the rude older cashier(s). From the start, she acted very inconvenienced as I waited from the next line over and she âhadâ to help me.
I asked questions about the items because I wasnât sure if they were on sale or not (some of the signage is occasionally confusing on exactly which products are on sale vs not) and she quickly got snappy and shut me down. I pride myself on treating people with respect. I didnât raise my voice or anything like that, I was just asking a few questions and with her responses very blunt, I wasnât sure if she was understanding because she wasnât giving a clear answer in any way. (A simple âyes or noâ wouldâve been fine.)
Iâve worked in customer service for over 6 years as an assistant and as a manager, this wouldnât slide with me if it had happened in my store.
Otherwise, I love this store and itâs many, many items. Most of the staff is super nice and friendly. Itâs a convenient location too, though the outside visual needs a bit of a remake. Looking kinda outdated by quite a few years, though still well...
   Read moreI was accused of stealing jewelry things while I was paying for the things I was going to purchase. The manager hadnât looked at any videos and they followed me through the store the moment I walked in. I told her to go check her videos and search my stuff and she yelled for security to look at the video after accusing me at the register of stealing! It was so humiliating and I feel I was discriminated against because of the way I was dressed. She took what I was going to be a fun night of crafts with my children and turned it into a horrible humiliating situation. I can not believe anyone would treat someone this way and to be a manager of a store and act that way is despicable. It was so terribly ignorant and I will not be going back! I have spent a lot of money at this store in the past and will not spend a dime here ever again because of this terrible experience! When we called and asked for further investigation into this they just told us theyâll get back to us! Not something someone does when there is actual theft in the store!
