Lash Therapy — Local services in Fort Lauderdale

I recently visited Lash Therapy, owned and operated by Maria Burns, for eyelash extensions on December 13th. Initially, I was delighted; the lashes looked stunning, and the setting was very comfortable. However, this initial satisfaction quickly turned into one of the most horrible experiences I've had with a service provider IN MY LIFE.

Within a day, I was disappointed to find significant eyelash fallout, with about 15 lashes lost without any apparent reason as I had followed all the care steps. Maria offered a correction service, which I gratefully accepted, but to my profound disappointment, the issue recurred, leading to complete lash fallout within hours! This was especially upsetting as I had both a company Christmas party and a family Christmas trip planned and wanted to look and feel my best, which I didn't as my eyelashes were full of gaps and it looked horrible.

While I was on my family trip, Maria reached out with an explanation, which I initially found reassuring: “Hey babe, I hope your day is going well, I figured out the problem! My AC thermostat was off!!!!!!! So when your back contact me your next service is on me! Have a great day! 🎀 Today the studio was abnormally warm, it’s usually ice cold in here come to find out the humidity was 80% when you first came in! Another client of mine also experienced the same thing! This was driving me crazy as to what it could have been! Thought to keep you in the loop!” However, this reassurance soon gave way to frustration.

Appreciating her honesty, I booked another appointment for January 12th, ahead of an important content shoot. However, Maria canceled on the morning of the appointment, offering a $75 refund instead.

Feeling let down by multiple negative experiences, I expressed my dissatisfaction. Maria's response, suggesting I seek services elsewhere and offering contacts for other technicians, seemed dismissive. My attempts to convey my feelings of disappointment and injustice were met with what I felt was a dramatic and unwarranted attack on my character (very nasty experience!!). Maria accused me of: "taking advantage of her kindness" and threatened me with allegations of "terrorizing her business." This accusation was deeply hurtful and seemed to be an attempt to deflect responsibility. Despite our previous agreement, she withdrew the offer of a complimentary service and told me she wouldn’t refund me even the $75 she had initially offered.

In the end, the entire ordeal was emotionally taxing. Not only did I have to deal with the physical fallout of the failed service TWICE, but I also had to endure baseless accusations against my character and an unprofessional response from the business owner. I am SO thankful for Maria! I am from out of town but desperately needed a removal + new set and I booked directly on her website for an appointment 2 days out. I had low expectations as I’ve always been told I have thin/short lashes, but Maria informed me that they’re actually long! I told her I wanted my lashes to be as full and long as possible. She was very educational and guided me on which lash curls and lengths would be best to ensure the health of my natural lashes. I booked with an appointment with Maria a few weeks ago, and absolutely loved how my lashes came out! After not having lash extensions for years after bad experiences, I was super cautious in finding a new tech that could do a great job and not ruin my natural lashes or create a look that didn’t look good. But Maria answered all my questions, made the booking process super easy and the actual process of the lashes was fantastic. She was super detailed in asking about the exact style of the lashes I wanted and was able to recreate the exact look. Afterwards the aftercare process was explained really well and how to take care of the lashes in the best way so they retain longer and look great until the next fill.
