Found this hidden gem nestled into the heart of Oakland. A beautiful, chic family owned and operated ice cream parlor owned by Beth and Frank.
Besides the cute decor, one of my biggest critiques of a business is their customer service. Frank instantly welcomed my daughter and I with open arms, he was attentive, friendly, and gives that fatherly personality that everyone loves. He answered questions, let us try multiple ice creams and just gave us friendly conversation which you can’t find very often.
Now for the best part, the ice cream. All of their ice creams are made in house and they are scrumptious. Super creamy and filled with flavor! I appreciate when ice cream is the same consistency throughout and it was. I’m also not a big cookies fan but the Cookie Monster ice cream was to die for!!
I love supporting family owned businesses and this is my new favorite spot.

I needed a spoon for my dinner, so I decided to walked in and asked for one. The BEST decision I made because Beth (1 out 2 owner) was soo welcoming. She gave me a spoon then proceeded to offer me to try some ice cream. I told her I would try the cookies and cream. Omgg, it was one of the best ice cream I ever had 🤯. I usually go to Cold Stone but Golden Rose is better. It is freshly made, creamy, sweet but not sweet, simply DELICIOUS 😋. Soon after, Frank the 2nd owner came out and great me, also very kind. After I ate my food, I went back into Golden Rose and bought some cookie and cream ice cream. The service was soo welcoming, chill and it felt like home, I stayed in their shop for about 2-3hrs. I can’t wait to go back and easily will be my go to ice...
Read moreThe Golden Rose Ice Cream Bar is a gem. The lovely couple running it has been making ice cream the old-fashioned way for over 30 years, with recipes passed down from his mom. They were so generous, letting us sample a bunch of flavors—each one better than the last.
The cookies and cream was unbelievably fluffy and easily one of the best I’ve ever had. I also tried the lavender honey, which was so good I ended up buying a pint to take home. What I love most is that they skip all the unnecessary stuff: no xanthan gum or weird fillers like other places use. I crushed an entire pint and didn’t feel sick afterwards, which says a lot.
I originally came in for two scoops and left with a pint in hand. Wonderful couple, wonderful ice cream—can’t...
