I would give more stars if possible. Hands down one of the best workouts I've ever experienced and I strongly suspect that this is the best workout in south Florida. I'm in town visiting family this week and I was eager to try this place. Legacy is a sports conditioning studio that uses partner-based HIIT/interval training with three core areas of focus: strength, performance and conditioning. It has several locations and a very dedicated client base. It reminds me of Cut Seven in DC or Tone House in NYC, two of the premier workouts for their respective cities with similarly devoted customers. If I lived down here I would probably be in Legacy everyday. This review is based on two classes with Yordano and Rich as coaches, both of whom introduced themselves to me before class and made sure I felt comfortable in a new environment. The vibe at Legacy is warm and friendly but also intense in a positive way, you're there to work. At Legacy, you train with a partner at timed stations as you go through each station once during a workout. Sometimes you and your partner are each doing a different exercise, other times you may be waiting for your partner to complete his/her exercise and then you switch. The facility is packed with stuff and immaculately clean. For patrons, there is also trademarked canned water and sports drinks available for purchase. The restrooms are a bit small but surprisingly clean, which is not something you can count on at most fitness facilities. The workouts are challenging and it can be tough to keep track of each station, however, the moves are demoed by the coaches and written on a dry erase board. The coaches will walk around and offer pointers and help correct form. For instance, Yordano corrected my bear crawl technique and it eased the pressure in my shoulders during my strides. Rich was a terrific motivator and it reminded me of early morning wrestling practices in high school. Participants will find some equipment that they have likely seen or used before, like a pull up bar, lat pulldown or leg extensions, and then some less common equipment like a curved treadmill or rogue echo bikes. The goal is to compete with yourself to get better and, despite being a challenging workout, it's also a lot of fun. So...
Read morePlease make sure you fully read your contract. When you sign up, they tell you you're paying for 2 months upfront with no enrollment fee and that you can cancel anytime with a 60-day notice. When I requested to cancel, I found out that the 2 months charge up front was actually only 1 month of the membership and the enrollment fee which was the same amount as the membership! Who charges $180 for an enrollment fee and why wasn't that explained up front? Even the contract does not specify the enrollment fee cost! When I asked about this I was told that they "give you back" the enrollment fee during your "last month" of membership but it has to Be after the 60 days, so in reality, it is 90 days to cancel not 60. I really feel like I was taken advantage of here! So please, do not go by what they tell you, take the contract home with you before signing so you can fully read it. Also, the manager Dean is pretty rude. Not just when I brought this to his attention to let him know the employee who signed me up never explained this but also during the workouts. He wasn't very rude to me but to the others working out. He was very mean and condescending. It's one thing to push your team to work harder but the way he talked to them was not cool and made me feel very uneasy to pick his...
Read moreI visited this gym for the first time last week and was on the fence about writing a review, but after my experience, I feel like I should share. I attended a class in the morning, and immediately afterward, I was bombarded with pressure to sign up for a membership and personal training. I told him I’d think about it, but less than 24 hours later, I started receiving text messages pushing me to join.
I’m sorry, but I can’t justify spending $75+ on personal training when the trainers themselves don’t seem to have proper form. It was concerning to see trainers more focused on their phones than on their clients.
The group training area smelled awful, and honestly, I was worried about the hygiene of the carpet. It reeked so badly that I feared it could be a health hazard. The bathrooms were no better. The showers had leftover soap with hair on it, the drain was clogged with hair, and the floors looked slimy. I wouldn’t even step in without my socks on.
For the price they’re charging, this gym is absolutely not worth it. There are plenty of other gyms in the area with better equipment, cleaner facilities, and trainers who actually pay attention. I won’t be...
