It really does take one bad experience. I love the Black Market at this venue but whoever is running security here needs to fire at least one guy. We went through the second floor patio because last year battle of the bands voting was in that area. There was NO signage indicating we shouldn't go through. So me and my group walked in, another small group behind us. Some security guard immediately started screaming at us, accusing my boyfriend of trying to be "slick", and putting his hands on him to throw him out. He just kept screaming, like an absolutely sociopath. I tried talking to the other security guard nearby but the first guy was so riled up and I was chaperoning my teen cousin and trying to keep him safe so I wasn't able to get much of a word in. The first guy hauled us out and when I said he simply should have been polite, he just kept screaming DON'T GO WHERE YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO (without...a signage? To let us know?)
This was bad enough but he pointed us out to the people at the front, still screaming at the top of his lungs. The front staff started barking to get out while I was trying to say, next time, just be polite. Seriously, be kind. We genuinely just wanted to know where the voting was. But he got the front security so riled up that we just left, again, mostly to keep my underage cousin away from the screaming security.
This is unnecessary, it is threatening, and it's really gross behavior. Even more so at an all ages event where a MINOR was present. How lackluster is your security training that you don't understand to SPEAK to people first? How do you not understand deescalation techniques and you leave it to the frightened, paying patrons to modify the behavior of unhinged security guards?
I don't particularly feel safe coming back to this venue. The alt scene in South Florida is a wonderful community, I hate to see it ruined by people like this. I hope this venue at least apologizes and addresses this behavior with the personnel. This is not how you treat another human being.
Edit: for the record, Revolution Live ignored multiple communication attempts, including an Instagram DM and an email. Your safety is not a priority at this venue 🤷♀️ Which again, is sad, as the talent that's poured into it is truly special. I hope better venues pop...
Read moreWe attended a concert at this venue last night and it was our second. The first time we saw Mariana Trench which is a small Canadian rock band. The venue wasn't very full and we were right in the front. Everything was fantastic but the sound quality was complete garbage.
One of my favorite bands Sum 41 which I have been waiting years to see finally is touring and had a concert last night at Revolution. We discussed what to do and finally decided to give it another chance because I really like the band, maybe Trench just had a bad sound tech.
Last night was the worst concert experience of my life and I have been to over 30. This was the ONLY concert that we have actually left early. The sound quality was absolute TRASH. Sounded like a high-school band doing a cover. MAYBE if you got a spot on the floor it would have sounded better but I doubt it because that is where we were standing last time.
The only people who were into the music were those that were totally drunk. I was pretty drunk myself because we had waited 3 hours after the doors opened to see them and they STILL sounded terrible. Some people were so drunk and couldn't have POSSIBLY been real fans or they would have been pissed that such a good band had their sound diminished so seriously.
Only TWO songs in and people were throwing drinks from the back of the pit and a drunk woman split her entire drink on the guy next to me.
I am fine with insane crowds IF THE MUSIC IS ACTUALLY SOMETHING TO GET PUMPED ABOUT but this was SO SO trash tier. God.
Please do your favor and don't attend this venue for Rock concerts. Maybe it's better for other genres but stay away even if it's your favorite band unless you want to have your favorite bands songs...
Read moreI've recently been to Revolution again for the first time since 2011, when I saw My Chemical Romance. The 2 shows bringing me back this year were the Circle Jerks and Descendents back in March of this year and the Aquabats, which was just last night!
I really enjoy this venue! The back yard shows are on a spacious green and the bar in the back has glowing, eye-catching lights and a great view of the stage. The sound quality is fantastic, too! I love general admission concerts because I get to mosh and not break the bank over a specific "pit" section at a larger venue that usually has a separate ticket listing.
Inside shows are great, too. The venue is dark like most clubs tend to be, which highlights the stage, of course. There is an upstairs section for a balcony view of the stage if you don't want to brave the pit and just want to chill and sip on a drink. The upstairs bar is available, too, but far more traffic visits the downstairs bar. I like that the pit is sectioned off into a dip in the floor that allows audience members to still look up at the stage instead of being even with it, and also gives space between people trying to have a more chill night and those of us who show up to mosh hard.
I know this won't typically make or break if I go to a venue, but I really like how spacious and decently lit the bathroom is compared to other clubs I've gone to, where the bathrooms are tiny, dark, and dingy.
The SoFlo punk scene has awesome people who look out for each other. Makes going to the shows a carefree blast! Looking forward to seeing Streetlight Manifesto...
