I decided to select this hotel for our stay while in Fort Lauderdale because of its recent opening as a new hotel in the area. For someone who travel very often and have stayed in many hotels, my standards are very high especially when it comes to the hotel cleanliness. The information provided on the Bonvoy app. clearly indicated that parking for this hotel was either self parking for 15$ / daily or valet for 35$. Upon arriving and ready for our check in, we were informed that there is only valet parking for 35$. Once at the front desk, I spoke to a staff (I think he was a supervisor because the other gentleman that was helping me let him address the issue about the incorrect information for the parking fees). Here’s what bother me and got me very irritated was how arrogant and unprofessional he was while trying to tell me where to look exactly on the website for parking fees information. I question him as of why there’s incorrect information indicated on the website which would get clients confuse and misguided. His answer « well that incorrect information is on the Marriott / Bonvoy website and not our Aloft hotel website » Are you being serious!!!! You’re saying Aloft one of the 30 hotel brands under Marriott should be our problem and guests should deal with it?!? Wow at this point I realized how he simply did not care about wanting to handle the issue professionally and just wanted to brush it off. The staff especially this individual (forgot to ask for his name but young fellow short hair with glasses about 5’5) needs to have a more thorough training about providing good customer service. This does not represent your brand/ hotel well especially as a frontline employee. Sad to say, I will not be coming back to this hotel although rooms are new & clean (as expected for a new hotel). One issue I must mention in our room was how there’s an intense water pressure / splashing when you flush the toilet. It was insanely strong and even with the lid down water was splashing everywhere….awful! (Room 507) Needless to say I was charged the 35$ for valet parking instead of the 15$ for self parking that I was ready to paid (AS INDICATED ON THE WEBSITE). Additionally, the parking was completely empty and paying 35$ for the valet to drive our car for about a few meters from the parking spot to the door! Very disappointing! Because of all this, we have shortened our trip and stayed one night...
Read moreTo say that my stay at the Aloft Fort Lauderdale Airport left me disappointed, annoyed, and frustrated would be an understatement.
I booked my stay from Thursday, March 22, 2024, through Saturday, March 24, 2024, following a cruise where I would disembark early in the morning on Friday, March 23, 2024. My plan was to have a smooth late (early morning) check-in. I called Marriott customer service to advise of my expected arrival time, and this notation was added to my reservation. However, when I arrived at Aloft, I was told that my reservation was canceled because I did not arrive on Thursday, March 22nd. When I advised the front desk person that I spoke with customer service to confirm my arrival time, she asked for my confirmation number. Apparently, this information was not available when she pulled up my reservation using my name. The lady apologized because there were no rooms available, but after a 45 minute wait, I was told my room was ready. Another employee, Keisha, apologized again for the inconvenience and offered me a late check-out of 1:30 pm.
Upon arriving to my hotel room, I noticed that my shoes were sticking to the floor and there were random spill stains on the floor. I don't normally walk around hotel rooms without shoes, and this experience made me thankful for this practice. Also, turning on the shower sounded like a jackhammer was on the other side of the shower wall. The sound lasted the entire time the shower ran, and the water pressure was abysmal. There was a random hair on the shower wall, to boot.
After a short nap, I left the hotel room to hang out with family. About an hour later, I receive a call from Keisha stating that I was supposed to check out at 1:30 pm; mind you, it's still Friday, March 22nd. We went back and forth before she realized her mistake that occurred when she secured a room for me and had me checking out on the same day, rather than on Saturday, March 23rd. Why in the world would I check into a room for 3 hours only?? Needless to say, when I returned to the hotel that night, my room keys did not work.
I chose to stay at this hotel because of the nice aesthetic. Unfortunately, just because something looks nice does not equate to a nice experience. I will not be returning to...
Read moreWhat a wonderful experience! My family stayed here for one night prior to boarding a cruise out of port everglades.
The service throughout the stay was great; hotel staff was available everywhere I went in the hotel and were super helpful. They are very friendly and want to ensure that you have everything you need during your stay.
The hotel itself is new and VERY clean. I noted a crew member on our floor going around with a cart with paint supplies; he was doing touch-ups on all walls which shows that upkeep and cleanliness is important to them.
The lobby is clean and offers for various snacks for purchases including extensive drinks including beer. They offer complimentary coffee and tea 24/7. They have a bar, a game table, a pool table and a spacious area for people to hang out in the evening. There is a rooftop pool with an abundance of outdoor seating. The gym is fully equipped and smells lemon fresh when you walk in, with a full city view while running on the treadmill.
We were a 15-20 minute walk from restaurants and shopping. Outback steakhouse, seafood, sushi, italian food, burger king and mcdonalds are a few of the restaurants available. There is also a full publix grocery and CVS pharmacy if you need to pick up some things to take on your cruise.
The rooms are EXCELLENT. So clean and well equipped with a coffee maker, tea, a small fridge, hair dryer, clothes steamer, safe and full soap, shampoo and conditioner in the shower that reminds you that you are at the spa. We rented room 403 which offered bright big corner windows facing the airport so we watched the planes roll in from our beds - a great feature if you have small kids.
They offer shuttle service to the cruise port, have a valet parking and you can pay to have a pet stay at $50 a night (up to 2 pets).
We will stay...
