We were excited to be selected as winners of Reflection Studio’s free engagement shoot giveaway. Leading up to the session, the photographer assured us that the day would be centered around our vision. I even shared a Pinterest board with natural, candid poses, and she agreed it was the perfect fit.

On the day of the shoot, she and her “team”—which turned out to be her young son—arrived 20 minutes late with no notice. From the start, things felt rushed and off. I had personally chosen the location, but upon arrival, she took over as if it were her own pick and immediately led us to uninspiring backdrops, ignoring the more scenic areas we were looking forward to. She jumped right into rigid, micro-posing—down to how to hold hands and which foot to step forward—without any warm-up or time to get comfortable in front of the camera, which felt unnatural and the opposite of the candid vibe we had discussed.

We tried offering input as creatives ourselves—asking to see a quick photo since we didn’t have a mirror. She reluctantly showed us one or two, and I kindly asked if she could also take a few vertical shots for different uses. What I thought was respectful, constructive feedback was later twisted when she accused me of “judging her photos.” She became increasingly irritated any time we offered ideas, even saying our input wasn’t “creative at all,” which felt dismissive and rude. At one point, she rolled her eyes and told me, “You don’t listen,” and when I reminded her that we were still clients despite this being a free shoot, she responded, “Oh please, you are not my client—don’t pull the client card.”

We had invested time, money, and effort into preparing for this day, and tried to mediate and continue, but she insisted we were “not a good match” and walked away 20 minutes in. It was deeply disappointing and unprofessional. Free or not, mutual respect and collaboration should always be part of the experience.

P.S. As she abruptly left, she said she would send us the photos and videos—which we still have...

If I could give Marina 1000 stars I would. My fiancé and I were lucky enough to win her engagement shoot giveaway. She was extremely professional and responsive from the beginning. My fiancé and I had to change the day of our photoshoot maybe 4 or 5 times from work schedule changes to other things that just happen and from the very beginning she was understanding and worked with our schedule. Day of the photoshoot was great, she guided us on poses and picked a beautiful location. Once the day of the photo reveal came I was shocked at how beautiful and amazing the photos were. They were better than I could have ever imagined or hoped for. We were given a link to our photos and a slideshow that we can use for our wedding. I would highly recommend her for your engagement photos and weddings. She offers different packages, even does milestone photos for your children. Photobooth in her wedding packages is also a great perk, and all the other cute details she offers like the wedding photo book for you and your parents and in laws. Her customer service is outstanding which is something i look for in a vendor. I reccommend her not just for the beauty of the photos but also because of her customer service and professionalism. I met Marina at a wedding expo and instantly connected with her. She is one of the sweetest people I've ever met and after speaking with for just a few minutes I knew she was the one I wanted to capture my special day. She took beautiful engagement and wedding photos, had her team capture everything on video and had a Photo Booth on our wedding day Throughout the entire process she was kind and very responsive and on the day of the wedding was very professional. Needless to say she captured our day beautifully and when we received our photos we were completely in love. The quality is amazing and her eye is incredible she captured the best shots throughout the entire day. Her entire team was amazing on our special day and we couldn't be happier with the outcome. Today we picked up our wedding album and canvas and were so happy with the outcome, the album quality is exceptional and the canvas is absolutely beautiful and we cannot wait to hang it up in our new home.
