Buyer Beware – Very Unprofessional Experience
This was my very first time shopping at this store, and unfortunately it will also be my last. On Saturday, September 6th, I went in to browse and ended up finding a figure that I really liked, so I purchased it. When I got home and opened it, I discovered that the item was damaged. Naturally, I looked at my receipt, which clearly states that the store offers a 7-day exchange or store credit policy. Since I was still well within that window, I expected that exchanging the item would be a straightforward process.
On Monday, September 8th, just two days later, I went back to the store to request an exchange. The same employee who had helped me during my purchase on Saturday was working again. When I explained the situation, instead of providing professional service, he immediately gave me doubtful looks as if what I was saying was impossible. He then said he would open another figure to compare. Of course, the new one he opened was in perfect condition, which only confirmed that the one I originally bought was indeed damaged.
Rather than simply honoring the exchange policy without issue, the employee began questioning me in a way that felt dismissive and accusatory. He asked if I knew anything about the material the figure was made from (I said no) and then suggested that sunlight could have caused the damage. He asked where my shelf was located in my home, and I explained it was near a window but that my windows have blackout tint, UV protection, and custom blackout curtains. None of that mattered, because the truth is that the figure was damaged straight out of the box — but he continued to insist that I should move my shelf, as if my home setup was the cause.
This interaction quickly stopped being about customer service and turned into him trying to shift the blame onto me. It was unprofessional, unnecessary, and honestly insulting. What made the situation worse is that he was speaking quite loudly during this entire exchange, while there were other customers in the store. It felt humiliating to be essentially accused of damaging the product myself in front of strangers, when all I was doing was following the store’s stated policy.
Eventually, he did allow me to exchange the figure, but not without adding another inappropriate comment: “This will be the last time I do this for you.” That statement was not only rude but also completely out of place — especially since this was my first time ever shopping in the store. The receipt itself says 7 days exchange or store credit, so there was absolutely no reason for him to make it sound like he was doing me some kind of personal favor.
By the time I was leaving, he repeated once again that I should move my shelf, which felt like yet another jab at me rather than genuine customer service. Overall, this entire experience left a bad impression. I walked in as a first-time customer, excited to purchase something, and left feeling unwelcome, blamed, and disrespected. The exchange should have been quick and simple, but instead it was made into a drawn-out, embarrassing situation.
If this is how the store treats first-time customers, I can only imagine how repeat shoppers are handled. For me, this was more than enough to decide that I won’t be returning. The lack of professionalism, the unnecessary attitude, and the attempt to make me feel at fault for a damaged product were unacceptable. A store that cannot even honor its own clearly stated return policy without making the customer feel uncomfortable is not a store I...

Then proceeds to tell me its not returnable or exchangeable and points to some sign you are supposed to see.. then asks if I inspected it? Really its a gift I have no idea about these things maybe if the person working cared enough to help instead of being on her pc she should have inspected it not leave it up to a customer to do it.. lesson learned never shop there again.. the kicker was when he actually asked if I wanted my receipt lol like I can return it… smh heres an idea maybe have both the customer and employee sign a form that it has been inspected and understands it cannot be returned or exchanged instead of hoping the sign under the counter is read or the employee can get off her pc long enough to explain the rule and inspect it as well.. hoping to owners read this and take action so the next person doesn’t get...
