The choices the owners make set the atmosphere for the store. Half the store is empty with tables for gaming events while the other half is crowded- a mix between Pathfinder, Warhammer, etc., collectibles, and comics. There are no zines or avenues for supporting local artists and when asked I was told there are no local artists or people creating things like that in this area. When I returned to the store for FCBD, there was an artist selling stickers for the event. It made me wonder even further why local art wasn't being featured. The comics are hard to find (disseminate what is new from old on top of issues being misfiled) and the ones they do have are primarily gender skewed- aside from the small kids comics section they have. I felt gate kept from the store and wondered why I couldn't see any of my work in there when I've got a decade under belt in the industry. It made me wonder why someone would open up a comics shop? I would think it's because they love comics and would want to share their love and have that community grow. The store felt centered more on tabletop and card gaming and comics felt like an afterthought. What furthered reinforced my opinion was having a trading card event held on FCBD. The table they used for the card event at the front of the store could have been used to promote FCBD. I'm left feeling like I'm not welcomed there when I make comics for a living and this should...
Read moreI've always enjoyed shopping at this store for the many years that I've lived in this area. However, I'm finally done with the outrageous prices and horrible customer service.
Yesterday, I went to TBS to buy some comic backing boards. The sticker prices showed "$10.00." I grabbed two of them and went up to the register to pay. After I paid, I noticed that my receipt said "$14.00." I brought this to the clerk's attention and he proceeded to tell me that the prices had just gone up and those boards must have been priced before the price-hick. He refused to honor the sticker price, so I got a refund and left without the boards. He didn't seem to care one bit that he had items incorrectly priced in his store.
I have no problem with raising prices. I'm a business man myself, and I understand that this is the nature of doing business. Especially during a struggling economy. However, if you fail to update your sticker prices and then decide not to honor them afterwards, then you look dishonest. I, for one, do not want to do business with dishonest people. I would have probably still bought the boards had the sticker reflected the correct price.
If your first priority isn't to update stickers after you've raised prices, then be prepared to...
Read moreWebsite out of date with no newly released product news(from 2019) but the phone number works. Went into store to purchase pokemon boosters(decided on silver tempest)..was told they could not sell me all the booster packs(28at promo28x4.99=139.72 for 35) or (35x4.99=$174.65)(silver tempest booster box $110+$10 shipping=$120 TCGplayer) since they did not have more in inventory? Thought that was the point, make your money back and buy another booster box or use the space to promote new products or use older inventory to make more sales. They have a sign up stating buy 4 boosters get 1 free promo..however was told since its an older product (same price point as the other newer boosters) they could not honor there own promo sign on them. When you have items which sell at same fair market value your not losing anything if you make space in shelving for more of the other boosters which were sitting on the floor in a cardboard box waiting to be shelved. This is the problem when the store owner is not working his own business. Good luck with your current operational staff. As far as the store goes not a bad setup most of the genre's are in the same spot and locations. Multiple areas setup for different styles or genres of...
