Very poor customer service, and my first (and now, only) experience trying to sell items at this store. I was treated rudely and, as others have said, employees seemed more interested in talking to each other than assisting customers. Many of the items I brought in were in very nice condition, some never worn and several professional wear pieces- they only accepted two items, an old, very worn dress shirt (like 5+ years old and well-worn) and an inexpensive necklace/bracelet set. What the what??? Over several new items and a beautiful navy business suit?! Grand total: $3.80, wasted time, and an aching back from carrying all of the items in and then back out (with no offer of assistance either time, and curt refusal when I asked to borrow a cart to bring items in). I was already hesitant to try this place, after reading the open editorial a few years ago, wherein a mother and her poor toddler daughter were embarrassed and treatly rudely when they asked to use a restroom; in addition to this, the fact that they now feel it necessary to publicly post a sign stating, "no restroom available" on the front door (tacky, much?) Yes, as an educator and a working mother, it rubbed my better instincts the wrong way even before today's encounter. Side note: Contrary to what their website said as of today hours prior to my visit, they DO NOT accept maternity clothes of any kind, even new and designer...because they "just didn't sell as well." What does, one wonders? After seeing what they DID accept from me when given the options, I am not inclined to shop their other stock or visit again. Final summary in 4...
Read moreYesterday, I sold to both Uptown Cheapskate and Clothes Mentor. While my experience at UC wasn't negative, the staff on hand at Clothes Mentor were much more interpersonal and engaged with me in a more professional, kind manner.
I have shopped at Clothes Mentor for 5+ years now, sold with them a handful of times, and personally they are my go-to spot for thrifting unless I want to spend considerable more time sorting. Although I'm bummed they don't have a public restroom, the staff have always been kind and considerate toward me.
A note to sellers: If you're looking to make a considerable amount of money (like 50% or more of what you originally spent for your items) or you are hoping to sell all of your items, I highly recommend looking into listing your items on poshmark or ebay. Clothes mentor is a resale store, so they are selling everything at a discounted price. To keep their prices low, they need to make reasonable offers for your items that provide them a profit as well as the buyer a deal. It seems like many sellers need to adjust their expectations and may not have experience in retail or considering the...
Read moreI have been shopping here for years, I’ve always had excellent customer service. I love they have been getting more luxury brand items like Gucci, Balenciaga, and YSL. The employees always help me out and are patient when I want to look at purses. Yes I have noticed the prices have gone up especially on the purses but I honestly don’t mind, have you not seen the price of everything else around us? If I can still get a brand new high end purse for $80-$100 I’m not complaining. They also have a point system so that makes it even better once you hit the right amount of points. I don’t normally do reviews, but the amount of negativity of these reviews are absurd. This isn’t just a thrift store, and these employees work their butts off everyday going through thousands of items daily, inspect, price, put a hanger on them, and put them in the correct area. Can you image doing laundry all day long? You go girls!
Also, yes they are picky on their items they pick because they don’t want to be stuck with items you don’t even want. No one wants your Walmart shirt from 2002. Thank you to all the staff at the Fort Wayne...
