4 stars only because I once asked where the restroom was, and one of the staff there gave me directions out of the store. I played it cool and continued shopping until I was provided acceptable direction. My money spends just as well, regardless of my choice in fashion or the size of my wallet and enjoy the experience Von Maur provides when I am treated like the human being that we all are.
Aside from that, my interaction and purchase from Jerry was splendid! She is wonderful! She attends to the fragrance counters and cosmetics. She brought my attention to Ken, Eau de Parfum, a few days ago while I was searching for the elusive Tom Ford, Eau de Soleil Blanc. It's never too late to create the life of your dreams and so today I made the decision to go ahead with the purchase of Ken, after a few serendipitous circumstances that I just have to tell you about!
Earlier today, I was listening to Nicki Minaj's "Beez in the Trap (explicit lyrics)," for a moment of nostalgia. Back in 2007-2011, at Hanover College aquiring my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, I had no idea what I was doing and was always belting out Niki's songs. They helped me see through the fog and empowered me to feel like someone who knew what he wanted and allowed me to make the moves to get it. I glanced up and I swear, I saw a license plate that read "Q33N B!" It was astounding. It was just after completing a 5k race at Bixler Lake, in Kendallville, of all places, for "Stomp Out the Stigma," a charitable cause for those who suffer from mental illness. If you didn't know, Nicki is Barbie. Her persona is the fulfillment of every girls' dream and she is a wonderful person who came from nothing and reached her potential and is still going after it, always, just as I plan to do. She is one of my biggest heroines. The night before, I went to Kroger on DuPont Road to buy pasta to prepare for the race and noticed a Ken doll on clearance, an aisle I never go down. I thought about buying it then, didn't, and almost made a u-turn, but was so hungry! On my way back to town, today, after seeing God's work, I stopped back into Kroger and purchased the Ken doll. I also decided that I would go back to Von Maur, eager to speak with Jerry to get Ken, and to urge her to buy the matching Barbie perfume, so she would match with me. She was not present and told the attendant that Jerry should be made a part of the purchase for the credit. She obliged. I then realized I had just purchased, a few days prior, an outfit from Burlington that is the same as what the Ken doll was wearing. I swear. It's all so eerie! Photos attached to prove it all! Also, I stopped into Glenbrook to purchase some more Ghost Vegan protein powder and am trying the Chocolate Cereal Milk flavor, hoping it'll bring back a few more memories from childhood. It's one of my regular purchases that I budget well for. I made my way to the Sunglass Hut to try on some eyewear, that I'm doing my best to save for, and took a few photos with the sunglasses I hope will add a little flair to my character. I am also saving for some more major purchases and so I know the big things will have to wait. What's the point of life without just a little fun along the way, though! Deals are ever-present!
We could all use a little fun after the traumatic events that led us all here from COVID. It's better to make light and find the humor to build that resilience necessary to get over our collective trauma to be able to venture forth into the world unscathed. After suffering from a little PTSD from a terrible divorce, and a few experiences I am horrified to accept were my own mistakes, resiliency and stress management have become a forte of mine and I hope to share my journey on my way back to the man I was becoming in my formative years here...
Read moreI Often order online because with free shipping, free gift wrap and zero interest credit card it's crazy not too! So I ordered an item, upon receiving I noticed that it had been marked down $20, then a new sticker of regular price put on top. I called them wanting the mark down price because they don't mark items back up. I had emailed customer service and included of picture of the price, I didn't hear back in a couple days so I called. The customer service person I spoke with (I think Diane?) said that that item had never been marked down and she couldn't find my email, so I said that was fine, I'll just take it to the Fort Wayne store and show them. About an hour later she called me back, she said she couldn't imagine that I would be making that up and searched further for my email, she found it, saw the picture, she doesn't understand how it happened, but credited my Von Maur card the $20 + tax. So pleased with Von Maur that I ordered 3 mored items that day including 2 gifts. Von Maur makes for the BEST gift giving, especially with the free beautiful gift wrap!! My...
