I had been eager to visit this store because I noticed they had adorable baby clothes. My friend and I stopped by on Friday, February 28, 2025, around 12:30 p.m. As soon as we entered, a blonde woman at the register, wearing an olive green jacket, approached me and began to follow me around the small shop. It was quite apparent that she was keeping a close eye on me. My friend has a lighter skin tone, while I have a darker complexion, and it felt like the staff's attention was directed at me in a negative way. The other employees were also blonde with fair skin, and one had light brown hair but still appeared fair. The woman in the olive green jacket was not monitoring my friend or the other customers, which was disheartening. I had heard from friends in various parts of California about the racism faced by people of color, but I had never personally encountered such unwelcoming treatment until today.
The experience I had at the store, where I felt discriminated against because of my darker skin tone, is completely unacceptable and highlights a breakdown in customer service and inclusivity. It was troubling, and I felt singled out and uneasy during my visit, which contradicts the standards of effective customer service and professionalism.
When customers feel unwelcome or face discrimination, it can greatly affect their overall experience and may drive them to seek alternatives. In this instance, I decided not to support a business that made me feel unwelcome and discriminated against. I hope the business owner(s) will recognize and address issues of racism or discrimination to foster a safe and inclusive environment. While I understand that businesses have the right to determine how they treat their customers, the way I was mistreated, profiled, and discriminated against is intolerable. I hope this raises awareness for other people of color regarding such behaviors and the lack of customer service they may encounter in this...
Read moreUpscale store with very beautiful child clothes. I gave a three start was mainly because I received a differential treatment. I bought 2 4-yr-old tops, one pair of short pants, and one pair of long pants. As I was approaching the checkout counter, the lady was finishing up the gift wrap with a previous customer. I saw gift tissue paper wrapped clothes and a nice bow attached to the bag handle (the kind of services you would expect at this type of store). Then, I put down my clothes and said "I am ready." I received a silence treatment, which was fine, and I thought maybe she just focused on the gift wrapping. Then, after she clipped the ribbon for the previous customer and turned to me/my clothes, she took over the clothes and started scanning without saying anything, not even pleasantries (which was disappointing and very awkward in a not-big yet quiet store). Then, I paid with my credit card, she did not ask if gift wrapping was needed (maybe assuming the clothes were on a discount?), not mention a cute bow. She just put all four clothes (kind of bulky) in a small bag and, done! The entire experience was awkward, disappointing, and even a...
Read moreCute clothes, terrible service. We are from out of town and my baby girl has been in the hospital for over a month. She was finally able to wear clothes again after coming off of the ventilator and I went to grab some cute, boutique clothes since most of ours are at home. The woman working could not have been ruder…she asked what I was in for & I told her, excitedly and she rolled her eyes and said “mk..what size?” She was having the time of her life with another customer while making me feel totally unimportant. I grabbed what I needed and got the heck out of there…will never go back. Can’t believe people shop there with the lack of customer service and compassion. Normally, I wouldn’t have purchased a thing, but they have the snap over the shoulder bubbles and my baby girl...
