This store is a nice looking place...... I find the prices to be too much for my liking. I was disappointed that the main entrance doors have handicapped door controls for two of the doors that can be used to enter the store. There are no controls for exiting. While waiting for my wife, I was sitting on a bench between the two sets of entrance doors, and witnessed many people having difficulty getting out of the store, due to the doors. You do need to give the doors a good pull to get them open. I helped two elderly people exit. A gentleman with a walker and a lady with a cane. I watched another elderly lady make it out the first set of doors and go to the handicapped opener control button thinking she could open the second set of doors, but as mentioned the two controllers are designed to provide entry only, not exiting. I saw a person in a wheelchair enter the store using the handicapped door controls, this person had someone pushing the wheelchair. I was not there when this person exited. The person pushing the wheelchair will have to go through backwards in order to exit. There was a JCPENNEY employee standing at the main entrance greeting shoppers as they entered. I asked her about the handicapped door controls set up and she confirmed that we're no exit controls. While I was there , I didn't see this greeter person help anyone with exiting. Lack of handicapped exits could possibly be a building or fire code issue.
It is disappointing to see that a higher end store like JCPENNEY, where it appeared to me that a more elderly crowd shop, that they don't have handicapped doors for exiting as well...

I made an online purchase for a pair of shoes as a gift, but the size was incorrect, so I decided to return them to the JCPenney store at 5200 Grandview Pkwy. When I arrived, I was assisted by an employee at the front register named SHAUN, a woman with braided hair.
My experience was terrible because I couldn’t find the electronic receipt in my email, and this woman kept me standing there without assisting me for about 20 minutes, showing a lack of service, mediocrity, rudeness, and poor customer service. She appeared completely incapable of solving the issue, even though it was an easy fix—it only required looking up my transaction in the system.
I felt very bad and mistreated. I believe that employees like her should not have this kind of job, as they can create a negative image for the business and its reputation. After making me wait, she passed me off to other employees instead of helping me herself, showing a complete lack of care and professionalism towards customers.
I want to highlight the employees María and Neva, who immediately assisted me and processed my return with excellent kindness, professionalism, and efficiency. They understood their job and handled everything without complications.
I felt relieved thanks to them. Honestly, my experience with the previous employee left me feeling frustrated and mistreated, something I did not expect to face on a regular shopping day.

Read moreI've been shopping at JCPenney my entire life. My mom used to work at one, so I grew up shopping at them. This particular JCPenney is not the best. Honestly, we get a fair amount of tourism here (I'm a local) and this store is severely undermanned. They do not have the amount of staff they need for the amount of people that shop here. During holidays it's completely packed and you can expect to wait an hour in line. The shoe department is a mess and they don't even have staff working in that section to help customers. It's honestly sad because it's a great location, both for locals and tourists. I will say that they have some amazing sales there for clothes and shoes, but the majority of the time I only go there for the Sephora (which sometimes seems to have more employees than the entirety of JCPenney).
