Dollar General is one of the only large stores in the small town of Four Oaks, so I tend to shop here quite frequently. Today was like no other…. except the check out line was taking forever so I was looking at the things they had on the display. I was looking at some of the new lighters and all of the new designs . I put them back because I wasn’t fond of the new designs. So then I go check out like normal and am heading to put my cart back in the stall outside. Once I put my cart back Brenda the store manager started to accuse me of stealing the lighter that I was looking at in line. I was truly baffled and asked her to look through my bag and let me see the video of these “accusations”. She informed me she was not allowed to look in my bag and is also not allowed to show me the tape? So she continues to ask for this lighter . I tell her I didn’t steal anything and again offer for her to look through all of my items again. I get the exact same answer. At this point I tell her I’m calling the police because this is ridiculous. She states “it’s not actually theft if you haven’t left the property” .. I’m guessing to maybe entice me to give up this “stolen” lighter that I didn’t have. So I continued to call the police that SHE refused to do. So Brenda then just goes and sits on a chair outside of the main door and is chain smoking cigarettes and speaking to other shoppers there about the incident going on. The incident that she has absolutely no proof of. The incident that she refuses to show me . The incident that she didn’t even look at… because you see Brenda didn’t even look at the video. She was going solely off of what she was being told. So not only didn’t I get false accused of theft and get embarrassed by the manager in front of members of the community… but Brenda didn’t even watch said “evidence” of my theft before accusing me. This town is very small, and I actively work in it. So her stories can greatly affect my career. After the police solidified that I in fact did not steal anything , Brenda tried to give me a very half ass apology and refused to acknowledge any wrong doing on her end . I will NEVER SHOP AT ANY DOLLAR...
Read moreEdit to my review** The service is getting a lot better here. Spoke with the district manger a month or so ago about on going issues and feel like he actually listened. I have been pretty vocal lately with how unsatisfied I have been with my experience in this store but I am happy to have something nice to say about this place as I love shopping at DG and this store has a better variety. I went in Friday and Saturday and both days were good visits. Lisa is very friendly and talkive , which I like cause I talk a lot . I stopped in Saturday right at closing and Rhonda , Tyler and Lisa were getting ready to close but welcomed me in and Tyler ran threw the store with me helping me grab the items I needed and then helped me take them out to the car. I can not express how much I appreciated this experience and I look forward to going back! Thank you to the management and staff that are showing their commitment in customer value and savings! ( I have been in other nights as well and the experiences were good, I just wanted to give it a little time to see if it continued and it has and I have confidence it will continue)
Only got 1 star bc you have no choice. This store could be amazing but first they need to clean house, starting with management,and start over. As I know this review will not help make changes I will go up the ladder til they are made. The employees are not valued by the store level mangers and that is one reason customers services is so bad. They are not expected to know the weekly sales. There is no accountability in this store. I was told be the manger (John) I was never rude but I am condescending. At no point should a manger speak to a customer like this. I have been made to feel uncomfortable going to local management with any issues, so now it's up the chain I go. As far as the asst. manger she should have been gone along time ago.
