If I could put a negative star review, I would! Many people from Millstone Township, as well as the surrounding area avoid Centrastate and any cost. It is well-known that, even if you are very ill go past Centrastate either Robertwood or Jersey Shore you will definitely get better care. Our experiences started with them a bunch of years ago. We had heard multiple negative stories from friends, but did have to go there for a medical reason. Unknowingly a bill went unpaid because they put a Freehold mailing address in my wifeās chart, no idea why we donāt live there. It was not until I ran a credit check on myself, we discovered they had put a lien against our home. Contacted their billing department to find out how to pay. Found out they sell their debt to a third party who then sues you and puts a Leon against you. Some how thatās acceptable. Now I do not advocate walking away from a bill but most other facilities either work with you or write it off. I donāt know any other healthcare provider that would ever do something so egregious!
Youāre basically telling people who canāt pay their bills donāt come we will sue you. We paid the court when we found out. That was a few years ago and we are still having a problem clearing the lien.
Next just because of proximity we had to go to there ED, relatively minor issues. On one occasion my family member was discharged without needed medication, the reason given, the ED MD who recommended the medication had left for the day! The night MD that was there was too busy had not evaluated and was too busy to do it!! What?!?!
We complained to the nursing supervisor, she was annoyed that we would even challenge them, and still just did the discharge. She told my family member she could either call the ED in the morning when the MD was back in or go to an urgent care if she felt she needed the medication. Huh?? Called to bring it to administrative attention, spoke to the ED Admin and was promised follow up, that never happened.
Now the last one, I had a surgical issue created by one of their doctors that lead to sleep apnea. Their doctors recommendation a sleep study, I agree with that part only!
The process, come see their sleep doctor after their primary care doc said I need a study to be evaluated by them to determine if the first doctor was right about needing a study. Um what do you think they are going to recommend. So I just wanted to know what their process was. First wait 2 weeks to see the sleep doctor, then we do a do a pre hospital study so they can qualify you for the in hospital study, then figure out from there what to do. total start to finish timeline 3 months, oh ya letās check you insurance and you pay us up front.
So I went to Penn Medicine for a second opinion, told them my experience and recommendation, all their doctor did was shook his head.
Penn Medicine is a class act! Within an hour the doctor pretty much told me the surgery their doctor did was not necessary in fact given the thickness of my tongue it did not address the true problem. The solution, home sleep test, if they identify apnea on tithe home test then get an oral appliance. Total start to finish time 8 weeks, a ton less traumatic that surgery sucked, less costly and better patient care. I could have been at this point 2 years ago had the Centrastate physician done the right thing, Penn Medicineās doc was right, their doctor wanted to do the surgery and they wanted the revenue.
Run far and fast from Centrastate, they are in it for the money! Anyone from Millstone or Freehold knows their care is horrible, so many bad stories from thus facility. You would think with a higher than average area median income and so many people with good insurance they would want to provide an amazing patient experience.
Robert Wood and Jersey Shore, far better patient care! Take the ride in the end it might...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHorrible experience! Do not go here! I've lived in the area for over 10 years and thankfully have never had the need to go to a hospital until Saturday. I was experiencing extreme pain the night before and finally gave in and went to the emergency room at Centra State. From beginning to end it was an absolute nightmare. Again I was in pain, couldn't sit or walk for long periods of time, waited 20 minutes in the waiting room to be seen. Finally checked in then placed in a room. Patiently waited for pain medication as I could not lay down as I was still in pain. Had to fill out paperwork and pay a deductible right on the spot as I was hunched over with pain! I guess it would have been the end of the world if they had waited until I was in more stable condition. A nurse then came in, didn't introduce herself just tried to draw blood from me, missed twice, then went to get 2 other people to assist, again didn't introduce themselves and they missed also. Thank goodness for my husband who works in the field, was able to help them and they were finally able to draw blood. The doctor strolls in, looks at me and has a smirk on his face, meanwhile I was hunched over on the bed from pain. Didn't understand what was funny but I guess he had his reasons. He was another employee with poor bedside manner. He didn't introduce himself but his name was noted on a chart in my room, Dr. Khanna. Abrupt and 0 personality. My husband and I waited 6 hours to get a cat scan done and read. During that time, we had to listen to the staff LOUDLY complain about being understaffed, (apparently there were only 3 or 4 nurses and one doctor on hand), talk about their personal lives, complain about other employees, the amount of people in the waiting room, what they were going to eat, all while cursing profusely every other minute! Total disregard for the patients. Finally we found I had kidney a stone and everyone knows you need to stay hydrated to try and get the stone to pass, yet NOT ONE SINGLE PERSON, offered water or ice, or anything for that matter! I had to ask for blankets because it felt like zero below in the room! We were there long enough for a shift change and was assigned a new nurse, Nick. He was pleasant and did the best he could but by then we were done and just wanted to leave. Finally after being persistent, the doctor gave us the results and we could finally leave. Not a single person said anything to us as we were leaving. This hospital is the worst and if I were on my deathbed, this would be the last place I would ever go to! I rather suffer in pain. The workers act entitled and do not to make your experience a better one! Patients are there for a reason, they are uncomfortable and not feeling well, comfort them, DO YOUR JOB...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI brought my wife,Maria here in February, after she tested positive at home for Covid. We were in the waiting room for 2 hours, and there was a Hispanic man holding his daughter, who was there when we arrived. The child didnt look well. They were still waiting when we were taken in. Maria's vitals were taken, and we were given a room. A registered nurse came and retook her vitals, she was very compassionate, and spoke Spanish.Eventually,a physicians assistant named Heather Guzy came by,she however, was not very compassionate. She ordered a Covid test, along with influenza test.Maria was also given lidocaine rinse, because along with a sore throat, she was having difficulty swallowing, and would cough uncontollably when trying to eat or drink. Around 10 pm,4 hours after we arrived,Heather Guzy returned,to tell us what we already knew, the Covid test was positive. She was going to discharge my wife without, any medications, except for viscous lidocaine. No anti-viral,no steroid,no cough suppresant expectorant. When I asked about an anti-viral,which was essentialy why I brought my wife here, she became agitated, and said she didnt know, because Maria is taking a statin for her cholesterol. When I pushed the issue, because I had my wifes best interest in mind, she said she had to here it from Maria.I have been an EMT as long as I have been married to Maria, and have been her translator for that long also.Heather Guzy wasnt letting it go ,however, and she made my wife listen to an interpreter on her cell phone, embarrassing her. She then confused my wife,by telling her about lidocaine poisoning, which had nothing to do with the anti-viral. After 5 hours of being in the ER,and neither of us ate dinner,Maria just wanted to go home, and confused by this incompetent pysicians assistant, simply said OK. The next day,we had a telehealth appointment with Maria's general practitioner, who prescribed her paxlovid(anti viral),an oral steroid, and a cough supressant/decongestant. An imbecil could have understood, that the risk from stopping a statin drug for a few days, did not outweigh the reward of taking an anti viral. Heateher Guzy witheld treatment from my wife Maria when she needed it,and yes ,I did report to the medical board. Jersy Shore medicla Center is 13 miles form our home in Freehold, while Centrastate is about 2.5 miles. The next emergency we have,we will be driving to Jersey Shore...
