One of the worst haircuts I've ever gotten from a student. Let me preface that I love going to students for hair care, to dental, to you name it. I'm new to the area and needed a haircut. First of all, they don't allow you to request a graduate student or a student that has experience on the floor (in San Francisco and in Southern California, you can). I should have known I was doomed just from this weird rule. I get there and the girl that they assigned me to said she has a couple more months before she graduates, but this girl had the least amount of confidence I've ever come across in any student I've ever worked with. I came in for a simple $10 haircut because my ends were tangly and that's how I know I need to get a trim. This student would not even grab a piece of hair until the instructor was standing next to her to guide her. I asked a couple times when she was set to graduate and she kept saying "oh I missed a couple weeks." I felt like saying "Are you sure a couple weeks or the full two years?" But I bit my tongue. She literally would not cut a piece of hair until an instructor was next to her and guiding her. I think the instructor in the end had pity on me and realized I was not going to get a good haircut unless he stepped in, so he ended up finishing my haircut at the top. But, when I was in the car driving home, I was running my fingers through my hair and my hair was still tangly all over, except in the front. When I've left other student salons in Southern California to San Francisco I've never had this issue, and then I realized thinking back that I don't think she even got to all of my hair because she was waiting so long for an instructor to come and stand next to her for every section of hair she got to - which, looking back, I don't remember her working on the left side of my head. So, now I have to find another salon to go to to actually cut my hair properly. But shout out to the instructor who made my bangs look really great, because without him, it would have been a complete wash. Unfortunately, I have to say this was the worst haircut I've ever gotten by a student. It makes me nervous that this girl is about to graduate in two months when she is absolutely not ready to even step foot on the floor. This experience now makes me question the standard of Paul Mitchell...

Read moreBeen a patron for years, but won't be returning. It's evident that there's a need for improvement in the salon's customer service and pricing strategy. Specifically, there should be a focus on training staff and hair representatives in essential soft skills, such as smiling and greeting, from all staff members, both at the front and back. Creating a welcoming atmosphere is crucial to avoid pushing clients away with inflated egos and high prices.
The recent experience included a discrepancy between the quoted price over the phone and the actual pricing upon arrival. This inconsistency, combined with rude treatment and discomfort for my daughter, was disappointing. The sudden increase in prices, especially exceeding $200-300 for hair color and styling, seems excessive, especially considering the students' lack of licensing and experience.
It's recommended that the salon reevaluates its pricing structure, considering the skill level of its staff. Offering fair and transparent pricing is essential for building trust with customers. Additionally, comprehensive training for staff and hair representatives in customer service soft skills is vital. Ensuring a positive and respectful customer experience will contribute to customer satisfaction and loyalty.
Addressing these issues will not only prevent customer dissatisfaction but also enhance the overall success and reputation of the salon. In the end, my daughter had to settle for just a wash and blowout, which cost $60 in a student salon and they wanted to charge us even more than that I loterally had to fight back and say no – a questionable...
