Seoul Foods — Local services in Fridley

I have enjoyed shopping here on numerous occasions. I have been treated very kindly every time I have visited, and I always look forward to my visits to Seoul Foods to see what new things have come in. I can’t tell you how excited I was to learn they existed, as well as the restaurant next door. Although I am (very obviously) from the US, it’s never really felt like “home.” I grew up overseas in SE Asia. Moving back to the US was very difficult, I didn’t fit in at all for some time and, in many ways, I still don’t. This store carries some things from my childhood so it is a nice reminder for me. I am happy there are stores like this one that support Korean Americans and people like me that miss home. We like the shrimp chips (my son likes those best!) and I like the bean bread and banana milk! They also have kimchi fried rice and melona bars! They also have delicious green grape and plum hard candies, and many products from Binggrae and Bibigo. Thank you, Seoul Foods, for making this girl feel...

All the frozen foods looked as if they had been stored for too long — they were dried out. The frozen rice cakes were so dry that they cracked, and when I steamed them, they had an old, unpleasant odor, so I had to throw them away. Other frozen foods (like Sanuki udon) still had about 10 months left before their expiration date, but they didn’t look normal either — as if they had been stored in a freezer for a long time. It's a nice small grocery store.

I come here specifically for the raw marinated crabs but the quality has gone downhill. 3 times I've come here for the raw crab and each time the bottom is filled with the giant inedible claws with thorns on it. The actual soft parts with meat has been clearly cut down in size. Imagine a small crab sectioned to 4 parts then cut again in half. So the actual container have like 2/8th of actual edible crab in it. The flavor is alright. This used to be a good alternative to Dong Yang but it's now on the same level of quality...
