The most important thing for us was that the sofa was very comfortable for lounging around, watching TV. Not that style and color didn't play a large role but that was second to comfort. We had a perfectly good style and color sofa but it just wasn't comfortable.  We shopped all over the place and after trying the sofa at Ethan Allen (EA) several times we decided it was perfect. We liked the way the floor model felt but we also tried EAs "tester cushions". Karen came out to our home with several fabric samples and found the perfect color in our room. We had to order the sofa, which actually took less time than expected to be delivered, YAY (5 stars)! However, here is where the 2 stars come in, when we sat on the sofa and it felt like we were sitting on a pretty HARD surface. After about a week we decided to take our cushions into EA and see if the floor model had the same cushions. To our surprise when we put our cushions on the floor model they were VERY comfortable. We went back home and sat on the new sofa and we HATE the way it sits. I can only guess that the decking part of the frame is made differently than the floor model because the cushions are the same. Of course since it is a custom order sofa there is NOTHING we can do about it. We now have another VERY uncomfortable sofa to sit in for the next 10+ years. I wishing we would have just lived with what we had or spent few thousand less. Oh, I forgot to mention they didn't do a very good job with the nailheads.
UPDATE:
Todd told me he would have a service guy come out to look at my sofa and then he would call me a couple days later. I wondered what he could do but was willing to have him come. He did fix the nail heads but could do nothing about the comfort of the sofa. Todd stated that the cushions would relax but it is NOT the cushions! As I stated, I took my cushions into the showroom to put them on the sofa and see if it was the cushions, IT WASN"T! Todd has yet to call me back since the service guy came out on Dec 22nd. It is now Jan. 29th. I feel like once my review showed up the gave me lip service. Honestly when I brought the cushions into the showroom my sales lady should have done something right then and there. Never will I purchase anything from Ethan Allen

After calling the showroom several times they finally got Todd to call me back. I told him I would be willing to trade out my sofa for the floor model. He agreed and about a week later we received the floor model. We are pleased with the sofa now but am not sure I would make another...

   Read moreWe love Ethan Allen home furnishings and have spent a lot of $$$ over the past several years. The quality and aesthetics are uncompromising and we will continue to shop there. The first time we purchased from them several years ago, we worked with Terry. She was very easy to work with and her professionalism guided us in selecting the right furniture we needed and the right fabrics. And we love our furniture and get many comments on them! Our more recent experience with another sales person was unfortunately not a positive one. Had we known that Terry was still working there we'd have asked for her but after multiple visits to the store and not seeing her, we worked with the individual who approached us.
While product quality is key, a bad sales experience can taint the whole experience. I hope this will be received in the kind spirit in which it is meant and be helpful in going forward.
Our questions went unanswered until repeated multiple times. Listening to the customer is crucial. After spending $10k, there was a constant, and I do mean constant, push, push, push, to buy more and more and more. At First we thought it was kind of funny but, it has NEVER stopped. Even after we left the store, the only communication we receive from her is to tell us about more sales. Never a thank you for shopping with them, or let her know if we have any questions or how she can be of help. When delivery dates change we have to contact her to find out the delivery status. We are still waiting for our dining chairs. When we asked her about them 2 weeks ago, she said they'd be here this past week. They did not come and she did not call us to follow up or update us on a new delivery date. When i contacted her today to ask about the chairs, she told us to contact the office, that they could help us. And they did help us. Thank you Diedra. (Sorry, spelling?)
We know there are lots of very wealthy people in the DFW area who spend far more that we can on home furnishings, but appreciation for ANY paying customer goes such a long way and will always result in repeat visits. When there's as much competition as there is in Dallas, valuing everyone who visits, regardless of whether a purchase is made, will be felt, remembered and appreciated.
