I bought two pairs of boots from the Gainesville store. First pair stated to fell apart in 5 months. Took them back and they gave me a new pair with no problem. Then the replacement pair the leather started to cracking. Took them back to the store. They told me it’s past the the year and could do nothing. They did give me a twenty dollar credit for a new pair of boots. Now 5 months later my boots are leaking. Took them back and they said they need to do a water test. Got a call today from I think was the owner. Tells me my boots are not leaking. Well tell that to my feet. He tells me that I have returned over $900 in shoes. Then tells me I will no longer receive the 30 day comfort guarantee or the year guarantee from defects. I returned one pair of defective shoes. Buyer beware of the Gainesville red wing shoe store. This is a picture of my replacement boots at 6 months.
I do not understand how I abused your comfort/return policy. First boots bought started felling part at 5 months. Your store replaced them because they were with in the year of purchase. The replacement pair the leather started to crack. I did not get a replacement pair of boots because it was more than a year. So first Incident was not me abusing your policy. It was poor Quality of boot. Second pair was a safety boots that you staff recommended. But unfortunately they did not fix right. Now the pair of boots I bought at your store. Per your staff I bought one of your boot dryers to prolong the life of my boots. I feel like the dryer has shrunk the leather. I also feel my boots leak, but you say the don’t. So I do not like being told in your post that l was lying about about our phone call. So once’s again how did I abuse...
Read moreEDIT: I emailed Dan (owner) at the address below on May 18, 2022. Never got a response. Since this post, the boots have fallen apart. I understand that it was from “wear,” but for $350, they should last a hell of a lot longer than 14 months. I was told to fix would be $162 and would take 6-10 weeks. These boots are unacceptable for the price, and the customer service of the brand, as well as the store, are only about pacification, not accountability or actual reconciliation. I hope this saves one buyer from making the mistake I did. If you continue to read the original post, the lace locking system mentioned broke (probably due to the “gentle pry” recommended by the store owner), and I would obviously no longer give the boots five stars on quality.
Original Post:
I bought a pair of Iron Rangers at this location in December, and I absolutely love them! I returned today because of a minor defect I’m having where the lock lace system is pinching the laces, causing the laces to fray. I was hoping to buy some more laces and maybe a tip on what to do about the defect. Staff was not helpful or empathetic; told me to order more laces online and that they had never heard of that problem before. I had seen similar comments on the Red Wing website before I purchased the boots, and was hoping for an inside tip. I expected part of what was built in to the price of these boots was the reputation of customer service; that was not my experience today. I was not helped, I was dismissed.
Five stars on the quality of the boots, but I guess I’ll have to find another location for the rest...
Read moreIf I could leave a Negative I would. On February 7. My husband and I went to buy my husband a new pair of boots. We buy Red Wing and love their boots, BUT ON THIS DAY, I sent him in due to the 2 at a time. My husband walked up to the door and the employees were not wearing mask. So he walked in without his due to him having issues with anything on or near his face and he explained that not upset or raising his voice. They quickly masked up themselves when they noticed my husband. The women with the dark hair came out with a mask balled her hand. (Very unsanitary) and not ask but demanded for him to put that one on. Not a clean one out of the box he removed. He tried to explain. When he decided he just needed to leave he turned and laughed. They women called his job and told his company he spat on their counter saying they have it on video and they are going to press charges. Well being in GA a company can fire you without question. Ben his boss told him what the women said and did not even let him explain. SO UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE PUT IN JAIL OR LOOSE YOU JOB s JUST FOR WALKING AWAY. ..... Stay away. OH AND IF THEY WOULD HAVE JUST BEEN NICE AND GAVE MY HUSBAND ANOTHER OPTION INSTEAD TO DEMANDS AND RUDENESS. We would have went back in with a mask today. STAY AWAY. RED WING...
