Backcountry North — Local services in Garfield Township

I’ll start with my wife and I love this store, It’s our favorite place to look around and shop in TC. Usually I’d rate this place a 5 star for its customer service, amazing quality of clothes/gear/shoes ect. However my wife’s most recent trip to the downtown location to return an item we didn’t need bc we ended up buying the same item at the South end location a different day, she was not met with the usual kindness we’ve come to love about BCN. Wendy the salesperson was questioning her return bc it was not in a backcountry bag - once receipt was shown she was happier and then asking if the item was used when clearly it was still in manufacturing package... prompting my wife to tell her the whole story of why we were returning this $30 item. Really? Then after, my wife wanted to continue to look around the store but it seemed like every step she took the sales lady was there in her shadow... no one likes to be followed or watched...

Nice clean organized was always a browser with my bf when shopping in the downtown location of tc but was bout to go on a hike with bf family and I needed to get some stuff cause my camelback needed a new mouth piece and just wanted to check it out... came here nice greeting a reminder to have mask over nose great awesome need that more in stores but to be able to see the item tell a different associate I don’t need help and basically followed and still trying to get small talk out of me I grabbed what I got and got the hell out... this store is tiny and well sorted that I didn’t need my hand held and wish I had my words actually heard and to not be followed. Definitely will not...

A great store with a wide range of gear, very neat and clean, and the staff is incredibly nice and helpful. A couple of weeks ago I went to get some hiking gear, and they helped size and fit me to a couple different backpacks before I made a choice, and their knowledge on all equipment was top notch. I also had to get hiking boots, (and I'm a size 15 so those are hard to come by anywhere), and I almost went with a pair until they discovered that there was a small problem with it that goes under the shoe brand's warranty, so they sent it back and put a new pair on special order for me.
