Elise, one of the owners of Garden Goods called the Traverse City Sheriffs office to report me today. I got a call from a nice Sheriff explaining that Garden Goods could not run my credit card because the number had been recorded incorrectly by one of their employees. Elise was upset that I did not respond to her with the security code in a time frame she though appropriate, so she called the Sheriff.
I had spoken to Elise for the first time on this matter on Sunday, when she made me aware of the issue. She had left me a voicemail prior, but I had not listened to it. On Sunday when we spoke, Elise was very short and accusatory with me, and did not once apologize for the mistake that had been made. She was only making it very clear that I had not responded the voice mail and she needed the security code ASAP. I did not have the card on me at the time we spoke and I explained that my work day would not be over for a few hours and I would not be able to get the code to her before they closed. I also explained that I had an early flight Monday morning for a work trip, but would return to Traverse City Tuesday night and would get the situation resolved. Before I had returned from the trip on Tuesday I received a call from the Sheriff’s office.
This situation was handled so poorly and unprofessionally. The Sheriff I spoke to agreed how foolish it was. I never pushed back for one moment on the payment to Garden Goods and assured Elise it would be handled, but her response was to call law enforcement. One would assume law enforcement has many other important matters to attend to, and I only wish Elise had handled this situation with a lot more tact and perspective.
I’m disappointed to need to use another garden center in the future because their hydrangeas were beautiful and I otherwise had a lovely experience picking out plants and pots with one of their very helpful...
Read moreI’ve been a loyal customer for years, spending thousands of dollars annually on flowers and products at your business. I’ve chosen to shop here not just for the products, but because I believe in supporting small, local businesses in our community.
Sadly, that loyalty has been met with consistently poor customer service. Almost every visit involves dealing with staff who are rude, passive-aggressive, or completely uninterested in helping. I’ve tolerated this in hopes that things would improve, but yesterday was the final straw.
After spending over $800 on flats, I asked to exchange just two for a different flower. Not only was I laughed at, but I was told — without hesitation — that your team didn’t care if they lost my business. When I brought this behavior to the owner’s attention, she acknowledged how rude her staff can be but dismissed it as “just because they’re young.”
That kind of excuse is unacceptable. Age is not an excuse for disrespecting loyal customers. If this is the culture you’ve created and enabled, then it’s no wonder the service continues to decline. It’s clear my business is not valued here, and I’ll be taking it elsewhere — while making sure others know exactly what kind of...
Read moreI don't write reviews online, and I especially am not one to seek or ask for help in a store unless Im completely clueless. Came in here for a small gift for a friend who is really into plants. I love plants myself, but barely know how to keep outdoor plants alive, so I'm sure I looked lost. I was in 9/3 around 2-3 pm and the young woman who helped me was very helpful and pretty knowledgeable on plants herself. She helped me figure out which plants did really well indoors, gave me advice on which kind/size pot to use and then when I expressed a bit of uncertainty when checking out, she reassured me that the plant was easy to care for & explained what it does when it needs water, etc. So overall, I dont typically go in a store expecting people to know what they're selling. It's not a dig at the current work force, we are all trying to survive. So its always great seeing someone who works somewhere and gets to use their natural knowledge & can apply it everyday! I did not catch her name, but if a manager/owner sees this, please always value her and people like her! She not only made a sale, but made it so I didnt look silly getting a gift for a...
