The Canine Center — Local services in Genoa Township

This was our puppy's 2nd grooming and to say I am disappointed is an understatement. I didn't recognize my dog when I picked her up. She was done grooming in less than 2 hours and it was not what I expected at all. When I told them I wasn't happy with her cut ( they basically shaved her hair off and on a 4lb. dog in the middle of winter this is not a good thing ) the girl behind the counter apologized and said she would note it for next time. Then it turned ugly, the groomer came out of the room...was very nasty and rude and told me he worked on brushing her for over an hour and she was terribly matted ( not true) and was truly one of the rudest people I have ever encountered. Save your $$ go some place else...if he was that nasty to me I can only imagine how he was with...

Since Stephen has phased out, they have gone downhill considerably. They are understaffed and unable to keep their facility clean and sanitary (our dogs have gotten sick there several times recently). In addition, they do not require proof of updated vaccine status and/or neuter/spay documentation. They do not have a limit on the number of dogs for daycare, so they just pack in as many as possible without regard to the dogs welfare. When I discussed these concerns with Adam (new owner), he became angry and argumentative. They do not have a live web feed (which is best practice in the industry) for pet owners to view their pets, which is by design in my opinion to hide the above deficiencies. I will never take...

Had a "tour" which only consisted of an owner monitored view through a window of dogs in a large area and had friend follow up with a separate similar "tour". Would never have my dogs stay there. Was told I had to wait until workers were told I was looking thru window to see dogs. Obviously a warning for them I was looking. Was told some dogs would be free in waiting area and not monitored during overnight boarding. Reception area blank of anything representing a business. It was dirty and smelled bad. Said they have 50-70 dogs on any given day. Had a very uneasy feeling about this place so did my friend when visiting on a different day. Please investigate on your own before sending...
