Michaels — Local services in Gilroy

This is an arts and craft supplies store with a large framing department. They also offer classes in several different crafts. The store is clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the prices are very high unless you get a sale or use a coupon. Fortunately, they constantly have sales and coupons. The good thing about the store is that they have a large variety and selection. If you need arts and crafts supplies you can most likely find it here. I have taken a course here and it was very good and lots of fun. I spent a lot of money on supplies but I think it was worth it. They have dedicated classroom areas so you aren't working in front of the whole store. Their holiday inventory is amazing and usually goes on sale a month before the holiday with discounts getting deeper the closer it gets to the holiday. After holiday clearance sales offer really great discounts if you are the sort to store up for the next year. On the plus side... when I asked for help I was given directions where to find exactly what I was looking for. But when it came to the check out line it was pretty bad. After waiting for awhile the customer behind us left her items and left the store. The next customers were really complaining as we waited some more. There were only two cashier's and bother of them seemed to be waiting for something, which was taking a very longggg time. Finally when it was my daughter's turn the cashier asked for her rewards card. My daughter didn't know what she meant. Rather than just asking her to punch in her phone number as the cashier I had did, she sighed loudly and rolled her eyes. Clean, bright, and good music. Has a huge selection without being too cramped. Everything was so easy to find and wandering the aisles was a treat because the spaces are wide open rather than crushing you with merchandise. This Michael's is majority art and crafting supplies (as all Michael's should be) unlike hobby lobby or the San Jose Michaels which are full of fake-weathered milk jugs and other pretentious decor with art supplies sequestered to the back corner.
