This Chipotle.
My god, this Chipotle.
The mechanics of this Chipotle evade me. I don’t understand it. Every single time, without fail, this one specific Chipotle will be out of an ingredient— usually more. If you come in after 5 o’clock, it’s basically guaranteed that they do not have something you want. Even if they DO have it, sometimes they won’t even GIVE it to you. You’ll see it behind the counter, and they’ll say it’s reserved for online orders. You say “well, geez, okay,” and you order it online instead. THEN they ask you to come inside, and STILL won’t give it to you. Never in my life have I been to a restaurant where they have something, and just. Won’t let you pay for it. It’s baffling. Did I make them mad? Do they want it for themselves? Is it really that important?
Except that’s not even the worst part. The fact that this Chipotle does not give you food, in an industry with the sole purpose of giving people food, is somehow—SOMEHOW— not the worst part.
No, the worst part is they won’t TELL you when they’re out of something. Not until you can see it for yourself. And now you are halfway down their infernal food line, your burrito a third of the way prepared, when they hit you with the fact that they’re out of the 5 other ingredients you wanted. You can’t just say “oh, screw it, no more burrito for me, then.” That’s wasteful. You already spent gas driving here. You cannot back out of this wicked relationship, not anymore. And that’s when you ask yourself: why am I being burrito trapped in this Chipotle? Did I slight their burrito gods in some unforgivable capacity? Did I enrage their staff with my meager existence?
You are in awe. You are saddened. You are still hungry. You pay for your food with the taste of defeat, rather than the taste of queso, because they didn’t feel like giving you queso that day.
Now, honestly, I’m usually pretty forgiving with this sort of stuff. I know it doesn’t sound like it, but I am. I don’t care if you’re slow on the job. I don’t care if you make a billing mistake. Nobody LIKES a fast food job, I really do get that. But this Chipotle— this specific Delsea Drive anomaly— is next level. I cannot comprehend which statute in the renowned Chipotle constitution compels its workers to act this way. I do not know what I’ve done wrong.

Read moreWhen I arrived, I was told that I wasn't allowed to order quesadillas except through the mobile app anymore, which is ridiculous and makes no sense, since it's faster and easier to order everything in store. I asked if I could download the app and have them start my order while I downloaded the app (with intent to place my order through the app as they wished) so my order could be made together. I was told no, that this was impossible, and that there was nothing they could do. Garbage on that. I gave up and proceeded to order two bowls instead. Not only were critical menu items (like fajitas and vinaigrette) missing from the front, nothing was on the grill or even being prepped. I was just told that it "wasn't available". The entire kitchen staff ambled around lackadaisically, unconcerned with the dinner rush around them. There was zero urgency, zero customer service, and absolutely no visible desire to put forth any effort whatsoever by any of the staff. I've worked many jobs in my life, Chipotle being one of them (I was a service manager for the Berlin Cross Keys Rd location). In my opinion, no matter your station in life and the job you work, one should put forth solid effort and show good ethic, or stand aside, because there's always someone behind you ready and willing to do better. I would give zero stars, were it an option. I will not be returning to this location. You guys at Chipotle Glassboro are off to a pretty poor start, and that's...
Read moreWay back in the day when I was a new hire at Boston Market, among the topics covered in the training video -- yes, the one with the copious amount of sparkles -- was customer service. There was a scene in the video with employees just conversing and totally unwilling to greet the customers in front of them who are just standing there. Of course, as the video was getting at, this is exactly what you shouldn't do when you have customers and mere acknowledgement that they're there goes a long way.
Well... the staff at the Glassboro Chipotle would do well to watch this video. Each time I visited, each employee was doing their own thing, seemingly clueless that there were customers in line. And that wasn't even the worst part. When they do finally prompt you for your order, they don't apologize for the wait and just carry on as if your standing there for a good 5 minutes isn't that big of a deal. It's almost as if the staff was ignoring you on purpose this whole time. Either that, or they're taking your patience for granted. Unfortunately, neither is a good look.
When you finally get to sit down and begin your meal in earnest, it is the standard chipotle fare, at least I'll give them that. But just the service alone (or rather, lack thereof) merits a...
