I had a return to make today. I am disabled and walk with a walker, so I put the clothing in a shopping bag (plastic from Kings) so I could carry it easier. I had full proof of purchase. There was nothing shady about my return at all.
While they were processing it, my husband left me to go to the restroom, and he hung the plastic bags off the handle of my walker. When I was done with the return, I saw he had stopped across from customer service to try on a jacket.
I made my way halfway to him, as I really can not walk far. I dont think I was even 10 feet from customer service. As he came over and showed me the jacket, a man who I am sure was a store security guard appeared. He walked past me, looked at my walker, and walked by my husband. As I had him try on the jacket, this man made another circle around us. Then he went back and grabbed the bigger size to try on. Again, here comes this man. He was not looking at clothing. He was very obviously watching every move we made. We had a loud discussion about the jacket, I know he could hear us talking because I was 6 feet from my husband. I said, "Let's order it online so we can use the coupon." Again, here comes the man, looking at me and my walker. At some point, I had even said, "Geez with the store security guy." I know he heard me. It was utter harassment! And yet, I think he went past us no less than six times.
Anyone who looks at me can see I can barely walk. We had been in the store maybe 15 minutes, most of that at customer service (she was great, by the way). My husband put the jackets back, and we left.
I'm really disgusted that you can't judge in one pass that we were not stealing anything. He could have gone and asked the customer service girl if anything was suspicious about my return, which it was not, but instead, he just practically stalked us. It felt awful!
In retrospect, I should have asked for a manager. I had just spent quite a lot of money, even after the return. It made me feel like I should never set foot in Kohls again. I'm a good customer. I fully understand that security has a job to do. Is that really to stalk little old ladies who are disabled and walk as slow as a turtle? This was not okay! In fact, I've decided while writing this to reach out to Kohls and discuss it.
This was the store at 6th Avenue and I-70...
Read moreIf there's worse customer service anywhere, I'd be hard-pressed to find it. I went in to find shoes for my kid that the website said were in stock and grabbed those on my own. Must have passed 3 employees along the way and said "good morning" and was hard ignored. Checked out the cosmetic area briefly and employees were all milling around. No help there. I went to look for a tank top I saw online and pulled it up on my phone after not finding it. I flagged down an employee who looked crazy put-out to assist and she made a vague gesture at a handful of tops that looked nothing like it, telling me it probably wasn't here before walking off. At checkout, I tried be conversational to no avail. When I found I was missing my wallet, I told her I had to go back to my car to get it (scared it wasn't there). I came back in and went right to checkout as the store was dead quiet. I made a light-hearted joke about the chaos of the morning, and the lady remained stone-faced and cold. Honestly, the whole experience was weird. This is why I go to Kohls every 5 years or so. I'll probably just order online next time because my mailman is a gem. I cannot believe I drove from...
Read moreWe had a solid experience with the purchase of our new Subaru. Gina, our sales rep, was on the ball and speedy with her end of the transaction. She was polite, courteous, respectful of our time and we found this to be the case with all staff across the board. My frustration is with the 6.5 hours we had to spend making a purchase. There was an entire team to help sell cars, but only one employee in financing extending the length of our visit by hours. Unacceptable. We were told there were two people in financing, but "one went home." Why an employee would leave early when buyers are stacked seven deep seems off the mark. That, on a busy Saturday, only two would be staffed, is a real miss. Again, overall a solid experience, but there's a real opportunity to round out this program by having enough people in financing to get buyers through in an acceptable amount of time. That would have made this a 5...
