If I could be a spokesperson for Costco, I would. They are a corporation that abides by policies that are beneficial for their employees, the communities they serve, and the environment. If I could give them 6 stars, I'd do it in a heartbeat.
Their CEO caps his pay at 800,000/yr plus a $97k bonus, while his counterparts are making multiple 7 figure salaries. Every Costco employees start at $16/hr and are offered full benefits with vision and dental included. Employees such as cashiers are allowed to sit while working if necessary due to health issues.
The warehouse you shop in is stocked by trucks that come from regional fulfillment centers with goods from that area. For example, our Costcos in the Milwaukee area carry cheese and wine produced in Wisconsin and the regional center is located in Northern Illinois, approximately 60-70 miles away. This formula is used all over the country which cuts down on emissions and supports local manufacturing and businesses.
Last, but not least, are the prices and rewards. You can find name brand shoes and clothing like Jessica Simpson, DKNY, Nautica, and Calvin Klein in the warehouse for half the price (or less) than you would in a department store. Almost every year, the amount of my rewards certificate offsets the cost of the $110 membership. And if not, it comes darn close - last year it was $92. I've looked EVERYWHERE, including Fleet Farm and Tirerack.com and can't find a set of tires cheaper than at Costco. That right there is worth the cost of an annual membership. Beauty products online are also half the price you'd pay at Sephora or a department store (unless you have a good coupon). Of course there's your every day items at a discount, like paper goods and cleaning supplies too.
The store is always clean, the employees are always helpful and nice, and I've recommended Costco to dozens if not hundreds of people in my lifetime. I will continue to do so as they are a bargain, they are ethical, and they carry products we all use in our daily lives like batteries, toilet...
Read moreLet me just say we love Costco and I should be able to rate the tire center separately. That being said, the tire center is a problem. I spent 3 and one half hours getting my tires installed on Wednesday, 12/4/24. In that time I observed a single employee being buried by lines 10 to 15 members deep, extending beyond the service desk and into the exit lines of the warehouse. Members were often angry or rude to each other and the employee. People who received a text to pick up their vehicle were in the same line that members who were purchasing tires, scheduling service, or just had a question. I witnessed a woman scold an employee that they put her spare on the wrong rim, another had issues with the TPMS sensors and yet another couple who purchased a set of tires in cash. People huffed as the employee counted out one thousand seventy-eight dollars and change. Often the register was locked out by another employee who then had to come and log out . Multiple times the employee had to request the manager come and clear up an issue. The manager was either stressed or just void of people skills. The snarky way in which he interacted with the employee and the members gave me pause. In the end my issue was resolved, I was reimbursed for the TPMS sensors they installed because they couldn't get them to work. I was told to take my van to a dealer to reset the computer. Personally, I am looking forward to the new Tires Unlimited being built on Port Washington road just North of Costco. It seems Costco is not committed to being in the tire business. If they ran the rest of the warehouse this way they'd have to...
Read moreHonestly, they deserve zero stars. I bought a computer in 2019 from them. It stopped working in 2020. They tell you to call their warranty service to help troubleshoot over the phone. I did that and nothing worked. They told me to factory reset my computer. Still didn’t work. I am a college student and I need a computer for my semester. They told me that if factory resetting didn’t work, then I get to return the computer and get in store credit. I called again a few days after to factory reset and to get my in store credit. Apparently whoever told me I get in store credit was wrong. They then told me that I need to mail in my computer to get fixed. But if it gets damaged in the mail, they are not responsible and they will send it back broken. I needed a working computer in 3 days and the mailing would take 30 days they said. So I was forced to buy a brand new computer that day. Then the manager called me and said he will forward my case to corporate and will get back to me in 2-3 business days on the status of my refund. It has now been 10 days since I was told that. I reached out many times. I finally got a call back on the 11th day. And guess what they told me?! “There is nothing we can do for you”. Well their warranty is absolutely pointless if this is how they handle it. The employees at Costco need to get their facts straight. Every single person I talked to had a different answer. And because of their inconsistency I am now out $800 on a broken computer. Their response to this is “I don’t know what to tell you”. Absolutely disgusting customer service. I will never be purchasing electronics from...
