I moved to Grand Junction in June of 2024. I left most of my living room furniture behind, but the pieces I took with me – inherited Stickley curio cabinet and sideboard, a Vermont Furniture Design console – required new companions. Big Box store furniture wouldn’t hack it. I started looking around, and in my travels found Holman House.
In the showroom I made the mistake of sitting in a Stressless recliner. It was the most comfortable rabbit hole I even went down. Had to have one, so I ordered it.
Yvette kindly offered to come to my house and check out the space – the Great Room – that I planned to furnish. She has great style sense coupled with the unusual ability to get inside her client’s head, see the space from his perspective, without imposing her own tastes. She made several suggestions that I immediately implemented.
I eventually ordered a Stressless sofa and ottoman, as well as an entertainment center and bookcase from another manufacturer. Quality furniture takes time to build, I knew I was in for a wait. The recliner arrived as expected. Unfortunately the rest took much longer than anticipated.
Not Holman House’s fault, unless they have some secret ability to control the weather – Hurricane Helene deposited three feet of water in Stressless’s North Carolina factory, necessitating what turned out to be a four month delay. The entertainment center and bookcase encountered some type of accident en route from Ohio and had to be sent back for replacement. Yvette and David proactively informed me of what happened and what they were doing about it, keeping me in the loop. I appreciated their integrity and dedication to quality – no way were they going to deliver damaged or poorly manufactured furniture to a client.
Eventually it all came together – Holman House’s delivery crew was prompt, respectful and very careful both with the delivered furniture and my existing furnishings. The final piece was an area rug. It’s not easy imaging how an 8x10 foot rug will look from a much smaller sample, but I took Yvette’s advice and selected the one she thought might work best. It was perfect!
Yes, there was some bumps along the way, but I love the way the space turned out, definitely me. It was well...
Read moreGreat customer service! I was helped immediately upon entering the store, by Dave. He was very thorough explaining about the chairs I was interested in buying. When I mentioned I would be moving to the eastern slope soon, he said they are not able to deliver there. But he still gave me a catalog of the brand of furniture that I want, and circled the style and size I'd preferred so I can buy one in my new area. I can't say enough about the service and friendliness of this young man! I will be recommending your store to family and friend. And if anyone is looking for comfortable, long lasting furniture, that is easy on your spine and endorsed by the American Chiropractic Association, you need to try their Stessless line of chairs and other furniture. You will...
Read moreWe bought two stressless chairs at Holman House, within the first week one chair broke at the base. I said I was not happy with the chair and would like to return it and was told that was not an option. The chair does not rotate as designed, they supposedly fixed it but it still it very rigid and one has to almost get up to rotate. In addition to that after sitting in it for 20 minutes my back aches, it is very uncomfortable after that time frame as it lacks lumbar support. We were planning to buy other products from Holman House, but after this experience would never shop there again. Very disappointed. I will be selling this chair,...
