The food was pretty good. They have a window to order from your vehicle and the food is ready faster than the Wendy's just down the road!! The churros, however, were not plated the way a to go order should have been plated I think. They come with whipped cream, and naturally, by the time we made it home, that had melted and made the churros soggy. I would suggest separate containers for the cold items like the whipped cream, and sour cream, etc. We encountered the same problem with the sour cream and the guacamole for the chicken quesadilla. Both were on top rather than on the side and were hot and watery. We also requested that they leave the tomatoes off of one dish but there was still tomatoes. Self-service was quick and friendly but they should rethink their to-go options as far as containers and what food gets placed with what. Just doing that would have made me give at least four stars and would give recommendations for this fast, convenient option.

We ate here last night. Our goal was to try a Mexican restaurant that we had not tried before. As compared to other local Mexican restaurants, the food seemed less authentic. I felt like the meat was not high quality, but have no way to prove that! I ordered a chicken burrito, but was given beef instead (sort of tasted like canned tomato sauce with hamburger). The servers and hostess were nice, which is important, but the food has to be great. I felt like it was expensive for the quality.

You can never go wrong with El Tapatio. Huge menu so there is something for everyone. I have never had anything that was bad or even subpar here. They make a killer Molé sauce that is delicious on their enchiladas. Their crispy chile relleno is by far the best in town. Huge servings, great price, good drinks and wonderful service. Both the gj and fruita locations are great.

I would give a minus 5 if it was possible. I ordered in person for takeout with 4 different orders for different people, we are very busy at work and wanted a nice meal. I read every order and the man wrote it down, it was specific to that order what was requested. I waited half an hour, and when it was ready, they rang it all up together. I told them again it was 4 different orders with different credit cards. SO they went in the back and seperated them out. I gave the card for each one and they put them in seperately. I didnt check the bags because I thought they would know what they were doing. I should know better. I drove the 30 minutes back to work, only to find out the didnt give us more than half of what we ordered. They forgot the Red and Green chili on all the orders, the didnt put in the sour cream, and also forgot a cheese sauce. They charged for these items, but we didnt get them. They burned the Chile relliano so it was not even edible. I called, and they blamed me for the error, saying it never got written, so I wonder how we had to pay for it if it was not in writing. They wouldnt bring it to my work, they wanted me to go there and pick up what they forgot. I again, am at work and cant take more time off to do that. I wont go back, nor do I recommend it to anyone. Spend your hard earned...

I ate at approximately 4 p.m. There was a birthday party going on. One has to walk between all the tables to the bar to get seated. I was visited a total of 3 times by the server: Once to take my drink order, once to take my food order, once to deliver the food. After I was done, I waited 20 minutes for the check. I had to go up to the bar, where it was apparent that the server had forgotten I was there.

As for the food, it was average at best. The salsa was watery but had a nice fresh taste and spicy kick. The cole slaw was extremely sour. I could not eat it. The chips were obviously factory made. I ordered the fish burrito. The fish was prepared extremely well, which raised my review from 2 stars to 3, but everything else on the plate was very bland. At $19, I could have eaten at Chipotle 3 times and had better food and larger burritos.

If this is truly authentic Mexican food, it might be worth a trip. However, the high prices, bland food, and poor service prevent me from recommending or returning to...

Pretty ok food - the best part was the slaw that came with the free chips and salsa, but among the seafood tacos, enchiladas, chimichanga, ceviche... it was all pretty average at best. Semi authentic but honestly pretty gringo, as the flavors and dishes were unimpressive for Mexican standards.

The part that really brought it down was service - the lady argued with me about my order and I insisted she got it wrong but then she made it sound like the menu item did not exist. While it was fine and I ate the food anyway, I later looked up the menu item and it was actually her who was wrong about my order. We also had to walk to the front to get to-go boxes and the check since we weren't being served at some point. I don't even know what we paid for and regret that our group tipped at all.

There were flies all around the restaurant that kept swarming our dishes - the restaurant overall just felt a little dirty so it really wasn't the most pleasant experience. Would not come back for food, service, or atmosphere. Do...
