I am unsure why Casey Troyerâs review is a complaint that theyâve seen customers without masks there and that store employees do not confront these people. This is unfair not only because workers are not responsible for the large portion of our local population that has refused to follow COVID guidelines (such as mask-wearing in public spaces) during this entire pandemic. Store employees do not have the authority to enforce government orders, let alone laws. Trust me, they have tried and learned that the consequences of confronting these anti-maskers are usually worse than just letting them shop and get out. By not interfering you can limit their time in the store, spend your own time cleaning and sanitizing after them, and prevent them from engaging in reckless behavior and intentionally coughing and touching things. Unfortunately, these anti-maskers often act as unhygienic as possible when âprovokedâ- itâs what they want, in many cases, so they can make a big scene. Therefore they cause more problems if they are asked to comply and become more of a health risk than their mere presence was to begin with. A typical outcome of being refused service is that the anti-masker refuses to leave until the cops come to escort them, and I know for a fact that many of our local police departments were refusing to respond to these situations and would just tell the caller to serve the maskless customer. So under those conditions, retailers and the like canât be expected to confront/refuse every anti-masker while maintaining normal operation of their business. Especially when employees cannot physically force anyone out of their building- then they would be committing a crime, actually! But more importantly than everything I just said is the fact that the state mandates for masks in these spaces were no longer in effect at the time of Casey Troyerâs review (one month ago)! So Iâm not sure what their problem is. Although I understand their frustration, at this point masks arenât required (the vaccine is out too). I can only guess they are under the impression it is still required by that governorâs order which has already been liftedâŚ? But still, at no point earlier in the pandemic would I put the burden of law enforcement onto customer service workers. Especially at their wages and how hard their jobs already are, especially during COVID times. Honestly, mask noncompliance is a bigger societal issue that goes beyond store policy. Itâs not like the âno shirt/no shoes, no serviceâ health & safety rule- that one is generally accepted in society (so itâs usually followed), it doesnât have a massive ideological movement opposing it, and it has been codified into law as a permanent statue for a long time. So it would be reasonable to judge an establishment known for allowing barefoot patrons or something like that, because thatâs clearly unhygienic and it is not be such a difficult/near-impossible thing for a store or restaurant to successfully keep barefoot people from walking inside their building. Businesses only have to refuse service to the very rare person who refuses to wear shoes- not to like every third person who enters and wants to shop there, like it would be with the maskless in...
Read moreI dont hate grocery shopping, but I don't love it either. This market makes it much easier to shop and is laid out exactly as one would suspect it should be; producedelibakerymeatmiddle sectiosfrozen foods.
Bonus, for a grocery store, they have a surprisingly robust wine collection that covers waaaay more than the standard grocery fare.
Everyone is always friendly, shelves are usually neat and organized. Floral section, while smaller than some of the other Spartan stores, is always stocked with fresh flowers and gifty things.
Starbucks....its there, and there's usually line.
It's a good store, prices seem fair for the quality of the goods. Good deli selection, great wine selection, adequate international section (my one beef with the Spartan chain of store is that I wish they had a bit larger international food presence, but there are no shortage of specialty grocery stores in the area to scratch that itch).
Probably the best grocery in the area, and way better than the competition kitty-corner, unless you're shopping...
Read moreI really donât know how this store stays open. Last week I was going to purchase Sunbelt granola bars and every box was expired. I took the box to the service desk and the person really didnât care . I have come across spoiled meat and good luck finding fresh produce. Today was the straw that broke the camels back. I went to purchase something from the deli and no one acknowledged that I was there even though there were four employees. Not one of them even looked up and two employees walked right in front of me. The only positive review I will give Knappâs Crossing D&W is their pharmacy department. They are outstanding. D&W, you charge through the nose for your groceries and I would expect you to keep on top of the expiration dates of your products. I will avoid this store at all costs. When are you going to start caring about your customers and the...
