Meijer — Local services in Grand Rapids

If I could give no stars I would after last night. December 20th 2024. I was shopping with my friend and my service dog for about a hour when I had a gentleman come up to me and tell me that my dog could not be in the store because ot could take 1 child for her to bite. I told him my dog Sir would not bite a child and that I work for forest hills public schools district and that she goes to work with me every day. He then told me that she jumped up some one. Well.yes she did my friend that was with me and she did so because they are best friends. The gentleman's name was Kelly. Kelly never asked me the 2 thing's they are supposed to ask. #1- if she is a service dog even though I had her pink service vest on and #2 if he could she her papers which I would have kindly showed him. Then he tried to say that she jumped up on him NO SHE DID NOT..... I told him to show me the video of where she jumped up on him he wouldn't. I was looking for my friend so I could get my stuff out of the cart so I could just get away from him because he was so rude for the first moment he walked up on me. He told me if I didn't leave he would get on the phone. I told him that if I called the cops he could get in trouble for what he is doing to my service dog. He didn't care he said. So as I'm getting my stuff from my friend he gets on the phone and telling whoever he is talking to that I'm not wanting to leave. I told him how do you expect me to leave when I don't have my stuff?? My friend walked up because we where on video chat Facebook before he walked up to me because I was asking her where she was. She walks up and hands me my jacket because she knows I'm having to leave the store. He keeps telling to whoever he is talk to that I'm not wanting to leave I told him how do I get in my car without my keys cause they were in my jacket packet. So when I get my stuff and I'm walking to the door's to leave I'm trying to put my jacket on before I walk outside he keeps telling whoever on the once more I'm not leaving. When I make it to the hallway entrance to walk out he tells the person once more I'm not wanting to leave. I told him I'm leaving he told me not fast enough for him. I've been in this store sooo many time's with my dog Sally. This broke my heart for someone to treat us this way. And for what? She wasn't bothering anyone in that store. The greeting lady's as we walked up front 20 minutes before was giving Sally love. I'm just lost for words. If sally did something wrong I would have owned up to what she did. While my daughter was shopping for me because of the intense heat this week, she explained how a lady (pic included) working at the self check out lanes. Seemed nice, how she was helping & talking to other customers. When she got to my daughter to ask if she wanted her to scan some of the heavy items, my daughter stated not at this time because she was doing multiple orders due to buying things for me, my sisters & herself! The lady (pic included) stated ok let me know! That was fine! My daughter scanned maybe 8-10 items when the machine prompts that you need an associate because of movements and going back & forth etc…that same lady (pic included) came over to help (mind you, this same lady, my daughter noticed, was doing fine moving along helping other customers & their prompts on multiple machine!) same lady, comes over and looks at me on the screen adding items to bags, she scratches her head, says Oh my! (Talking loud with much enthusiasm!) Oh! what does this machine want, it wants me to take everything out of the bags and rescan all of the items! The look on my daughter’s face as she explained was that of shock, like Huh, what is the lady (pic included) doing & talking about?! My daughter then tells her, Hey, I don’t know what type of game you playing but you can look right in the bags to see whats in there, clear the screen so I can move on! The lady (pic included) still was acting like she was stuck on stupid! My daughter then said abruptly! Call your manager now!, I don’t have time for your racist antics! When daughter understood this lady (pic included) was a problem racially, she took photos & video! The manager comes over, but she was no better, after trying to explain the racist antic of the lady (pic included) how she was acting as if she had to rescan all of MY items! But did not of anyone else’s! The manager was explaining how I had to move so the machine wouldn’t keep prompting for an associate’s help! Like Ladyyy! People are trying to scan their items & leave the store!, get higher tech machines then! Ya’ll have cameras and security watching everyone! Do not inconvenience customers! My daughter stated & FIRE your employee about her racist antics! We will def file a lawsuit with all evidence! Employee name: Heidi V. -Buyers Beware!

2025 UPDATE: This lady still works for the Company!...

My dad and I were on a grocery trip to this store after work. We were almost done shopping just looking for one item before heading home, and in a split second, I saw a large athletic man charging towards me while police officers were screaming stop right there in a tone that sounded like the man had a weapon. I was paralyzed with fear and I am lucky my dad pulled me aside to not get trampled by the suspect and the officers, unlike an older man who was right by us who got completely knocked over. Not only was the man knocked over, but a whole display of whisky bottles and glass littered the floor knocked over by the whole commotion. If any of us were any closer we could have gotten seriously hurt if not worse. I begged my dad to leave our stuff and go home because I was too shaken to continue shopping. As my dad was trying to console me about the man being gone he ran back around towards the alcohol paralyzing me even further. We eventually finished shopping as I was sobbing, fearing the man returning. When we made it to the front of the store we noticed all the checkout lanes were closed, making my dad and I self-scan almost 200 dollars of groceries while I was paralyzed. As we were checking out, we learned that the person arrested was a listed shoplifter of Meijer, not the violent assailant the police officers were showing through their actions. In the end, I will forever be traumatized from shopping at the Knapps Corner Meijer, and I will be mindful to spend my money in...
