Gabby, Laura, and Tammy.
Many thanks for everyone's professionalism switching out my 5000 Pedator Generator today. I've been using the Predator 3500 for 6 to 7 years living offgrid thru out the western parts of the United States and now for almost a year with the 5000 series.
I've swapped a many Predators out every 12 to 15 months or earlier, like today because of heavy use. I've never had one last more than 2 years because I run the hell out of them when on the road camping or living here in Montana off grid.
This one lasted about 6 months. July 2024 to Feb. 2025. Still had 5 months left on ext. Warranty!
I live what I like to call, A Modified Gypsy Life for the last 10 years or so and need a generator that helps my girlfriend, dog and myself live this free lifestyle.
Harbor Frieght has come a long way with customer service. Gabby, Laurie, Tammy and I'm sure the rest of the store staff are prime examples of Superior Customer Service.
If I had one suggestion, lower the warranties. $279.99 for a one year warranty is getting a bit over the top for the comman man!
How about 10% of the total cost for a warranty? $1,100÷10%= $110.00???
Harbor Frieght is a Blue Collar store for working men and women, when they dont have enough for the big brand names tools.
Keep it Simple (KISS). If the warranty price don't come down a bit, I'm gonna start looking at big brand generators!
I give a 4 star because of warranty prices. Get a 5 star when it comes down a bit...
Thanks again everyone and I hope this review helps other out with thier prospective purchases? Remember to use the purple oil for breaking in your new generator, any generator. 5W-30 for winter conditions below 32 degrees and 10W-40 spring, summer and fall.
You'll thank yourself...

If you’re looking for that one time item or the cheaper alternative to the expensively branded tool, then Harbor Freight Tools may become your new favorite store. This location had a little bit of everything, which was exactly what I needed. I flew up with no tools and needed to empty fluids out of a motorcycle and that required tools and pumps that I didn’t have with me. Thankfully everything I needed was found here without a problem.
PRO’s: -GET WHAT YOU NEED. It has a little bit of everything to get the job done. Tools for auto, home, and more. -STAFF. Helpful staff for sure. -LOCATION. Centralized in Great Falls, this location is just perfect for the whole of the town needing access to something like this.
CON’s: -GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR? Everything I purchased and saw seemed to strike me as not just a packing or branding that brings tool value up, just overall tool quality seem a little less. However, I expected as much and I appreciated the tools for what they were and they got the job done. -LITTLE GRUNGY. I think it’s not something you can escape with stores like this, but it felt a little grungy.
Overall, I love it. Pretty much going to search for one in my new location...
Read moreLet me start by saying that I have been a Harbor Freight customer for over 20 years. As a DIY expert, I've always been happy with their service and products....you always get what you pay for but sometimes cheap tools work just fine! Every now and then you end up buying a lemon of a tool that is easily returned. Unfortunately, HFT has lost a loyal customer today over a simple return of a faulty drain snake. The manager Josh, as usual, was unhelpful and clearly didn't want to correct the situation. I ended up walking out of the store with the item I was trying to return after being told by Josh, the manager, to take my business to Home Depot! Unbelievable!! Not sure what has happened to customer service, but one thing is certain....you'll never see me shopping at HFT in Great...
