We've been coming to Taco Treat restaurants since the early 1980's. Their food is amazing, and the corn shell beef tacos are to die for! I usually get 3 or 4. The cheese fries are amazing, as is the tater treat supreme. Their red taco sauce is unbelievably good - you almost want to drink it straight out of the bottle!! The Caesar Treat drink from the bar is also soooo good!
Like all restaurants during Covid, Taco Treat also closed their lobby to dining in. However, I have been disappointed to find that many of the Taco Treat locations around the state STILL have their lobbies closed with only their drive thru:s open. I've tried many times... It's just not the same. This location (Amigo Lounge) in Great Falls and the one in Havre are the only branches we've found where you can dine-in.... And thus, the ONLY two we will go to any more as we've been so disappointed with the drive-thru food (reduced serving sizes and skimpy taco sauce packets) from the other two Great Falls locations, or Helena and Missoula as well. We have not been to the one in Billings, or tried the limited gambler's menu at the Emerald Casino in Whitefish. Come on guys.... Covid is over.... Please reopen your dining room/lobbies!
We arrived at the Amigo Lounge at about 7pm last Sunday night. There were only 3 other tables occupied. The food was AMAZING as usual.
My wife and I both worked in restaurants for decades, so I'm usually not one to complain, but our server Sunday night seemed way too preoccupied by something other than her customers. It seemed her conversations with her co-workers were more important than coming to take our order (we sat almost 15 minutes), to check on us during our meal, or to bring our bill (again another 15 minutes after finishing our meal and neatly stacking our plates and glasses on the edge of our table to make it easier to bus).... All while watching her through the kitchen door chatting away. However, this is the first and only time we've had poor service here in almost 40 years! (Wow... That's a lot of tacos!)
I'll get...
Read moreFrom the moment my husband and I stepped foot in the door the overwhelming dissatisfaction began. Couldn’t tell if you were supposed to seat yourself or not. I asked the bar tender and she confirmed that we were supposed to seat ourselves. Most of the tables were dirty so we just picked one with an empty bottle of beer and napkins so it wouldn’t be too much for the waitress to clean. When the waitress finally did come over, it took some time for her to realize we were there, she was obviously irritated by having to pick up the empty bottle. She never wiped the table or even took the napkins so I’m unsure why she was irritated. Nothing on the menu has a description so I had to ask about what was on the burritos. The response I got was short and curt. I ordered the supreme bean and rice burrito and my husband ordered some sort of taco. While waiting for our food two men from the bar decided to get in an argument with the table behind us. I could’ve gotten over the dirty tables, rude waitress and angry drunk guys if the food had been good. I still had high hopes until I got the food. Immediately I noticed an odd liquid cheese sauce oozing out of my burrito. I don’t know how something can be both dry and soggy at the same time but it was. Flavorless and plain. Beans where dry and the cheese they choose to put on it is like melted plastic. My husbands food was no better. His meat was dry and flavorless. We both took about three bites and just decided to call it before we get sick. Do yourself a favor and skip the miserable experience of...
Read moreI always enjoy the food and atmosphere at Amigo Lounge. I’d give this place 5/5 but the waitress I had brought it way down.
My bartender was an absolute sweetheart and she knew how to make a margarita. Sadly I didn’t catch her name but I tipped her $12.00 on the way out. My waitress Tamera on the other hand wasn’t. I understand if people are understaffed but neglecting customers every time you walk by and throwing the check on the table prematurely seems a bit rude to me. I don’t want to be rushed out. She never asked us for another round and never asked if we wanted desert. It was up to me to make trips to the bar for my party. After I returned with the drinks she delivered a new check to my table. It seemed like it almost killed her. I went up to the bar for a third round and paid my bill. When we went to leave she acknowledged everyone in my party except myself. Based on our overall experience I tipped her $6.00 but to be quite fair I should’ve tipped her $2.00. I look forward to correcting my mistake if I ever have her as a...
