I attended IBMC starting June of 2023. Since the beginning me and my class as a whole experienced our teacher quitting in the middle of our school year. Not only causing drama within our school, but we all realized our teacher wasn’t teaching us what we were supposed to be learning. We all got handed a book while our teacher sat in the corner of the room gossiping and talking. We were in our senior session barely doing freshmen work. I can truly speak for me and my class and agree we didn’t learn anything. Since these unfortunate circumstances happened, we asked if there could be reimbursements or even extended classes/education that we can get to make up for all the time we lost when we could have been learning. Nothing was done or given. As for the rest of the school year, Keona stepped in and saved us! She went above and beyond. I could see she genuinely cared and wanted us to learn. My experience wasn’t good and it’s unfortunate that it went the way that it did. As for the other staff, Deb was very unprofessional and extremely hard to approach. For example, our school shares materials such as cotton balls, q-tips etc, we share these items with all programs. I went in the cabinet while Ms.Deb was in the classroom (with no on in there) and she told me that those materials didn’t belong to me and i wasn’t allowed to use such items. She said this with an attitude. This has happened more than once so it came to a point where i would stop using there supplies and i would use my own. Even after graduating, i feel like i still struggle with most things because i wasn’t educated. I would not recommend this school to anyone! Read moreDo not go here to get your hair colored!!! I can’t speak for haircuts or other services that they do here, but I can speak for color services, especially bonding services. I’ve come here twice now to get my hair done, and I want to know that none of this has been any fault of the students, but purely the fault of the instructors. I know that students are learning about placement and color theory and all of that I put none of the blame on either of the students I saw while I was there. I asked for a brighter blonde color both times that came in. And not once but twice did I leave with orange hair. I am familiar with hair and how I pull and how toning works and both times when I’ve asked for Ashy hair. They have used a warm toner on me and my hair turned out orange or very, very warm yellow. Today I pulled a very bright yellow that could’ve been toned into a beautiful blonde however, the instructor shows against my wishes to use a warm toner on my hair, which made me leave. Very disappointed. I was tearing up and expressed that I was unhappy, but the instructor did not seem to care and sent me on my way to pay upfront. I feel very sad to see that the students are not properly learning even when they have questions. The student who did my hair her instructor don’t you think this is too warm and the instructor said no no not at all and she even expressed to me that my hair was way warmer than when it came out of the foil which should’ve never ever happened if they would’ve used the correct toner. Read moreI waited close to an hour after my scheduled appointment before my son was seen. I was told the student was skilled and fast at braiding and after over additional two hours of being at IBMC this was my son’s hair. They charged me full price and the instructor offered no help to the student and was extremely rude and unhelpful and very defensive towards my child and I. I told her after three hours that my son and I needed to leave. I was frustrated but still very polite and even left the student a tip. It was supposed to be a simple two braids back. I understand that they are students but to tell me the student was fast and skilled was clearly a lie. I thought it was Extremely unprofessional to expect us to pay full price. I was extremely disappointed to spend three hours to leave with my child’s hair looking the way it was and I was really confused as to why I was the one leaving apologizing because the instructor kept speaking to us as if we did something wrong or that I wasn’t valid in feeling, let down. No apology from the instructor instead I was met with Comments such as “you are paying for the time you were here,” “we never promised anything and it’s not our fault you are in a time crunch” ect… A complete waste of time and money.
