This was the first time I visited this restaurant. To be honest, a few days before I drove by to go to another and thought that it look like a decent place to have my anniversary dinner. And without a doubt, I am glad I choose it. It was my wife and I 17 year anniversary so I needed a special place, or else lol. First I will start with the atmosphere of the restaurant. Very rusty and clean looking. Has the appeal of early to mid 1900s era. Great for a romantic date or just a dinner and quiet time with that special person. No over bearing music or loud conversations where you can't hear the person across the table. Also, and maybe this is just me, but no digital gadgets in the restaurant. You place a reservation, it's written down on a book, not typed on a tablet. You place an order, the waiter/waitress does not show up with a phone and app to "put in" your order. And when you pay, it is given to in a "check books" where you can review it personally to make sure everything is correct and a tablet is not shoved in your face with the waiter/waitress standing over you watching everything you input. Sounds minor but again it gives a more person to person touch verses the distance feel you generally get a restaurants today. Next we will go over food. Everything was made to order and tasted very fresh. I was informed that all dressings and desserts are made "in-house" and I can definitely say they did appeal and taste that way. The salads we had looked like everything was just freshly cleaned and cut just before arriving to the table. Lettuce was crisp along with the other vegetables served with the salads. Streaks were cooked to perfection along with the side dishes ordered. Seasonings were great also, no other sauces were needed for flavoring just whatever the chef has already seasoned the food with. We also had 2 desserts, one on which I will touch a later. We ordered the carrot cake for dessert and it was phenomenal. Again dressings and desserts are made in house and boy can you taste the difference. Me and wife loved every bite of it. I also found out later that the owner's wife is who actually makes all the desserts. She is a very talented in culinary from the taste of her desserts. Finally I will comment on the people. As I mentioned, this was my 17th anniversary dinner. I mentioned this when I made my reservation. They all took that very serious. Upon arrival, the hosted greeted us, which turned out to be the owner, and gave us a great table for the evening. He even had roses with a vase on the table waiting for us upon arrival(we got to keep these free of charge, thank you again for that). Waiter comes up, first thing he says "happy anniversary." He was very pleasant and informative the entire night. Made sure all of our needs were taken care of. The owner himself actually made me and my wife's drinks, very delicious. We even got a happy anniversary from other staff members not serving our table. Just a great experience all around. On departure; a second dessert that was made by the owner's wife was given to us, again a special item for the anniversary, free of charge. Big thank you to the entire staff.
To sum up this essay of a review, it is a great restaurant with a relaxing and calm atmosphere that has great homemade tasting food run by staff who actually cares about their guests. I look forward to future visits and wish you nothing but success. From your special guest, Codi...
Read moreWe decided to try someplace new last Saturday night (02/15/25). The reviews looked good, and we were hungry for a good Prime Rib Dinner. What an abysmal disappointment. We ordered a bottle of wine - a red blend from Modesto, CA and after it was uncorked and poured at the table, we discovered it was not the wine we ordered (a bit frustrating but not a deal breaker - it was ok, so we kept it). Started with a Wedge Salad that was basically just a large chunk of iceberg lettuce and a small amount of tomato and bacon bits that were scant and buried at the bottom - the blue cheese crumbles were virtually non-existent. But the real tragedy was the Prime Rib. We ordered 2x 16oz cuts, medium rare. Both steaks were over-cooked and extremely tough. The beef was of very poor quality and cut from an under-finished rib, definitely not appropriate for use as 'Prime Rib' steaks. The complimentary bread that they offer was not brought out until we asked for it when our steaks were served. The tiny plate held 2 small, torn, biscuit-like chunks of what tastes like a premade mix, just enough for a bite, or two. The $42 steaks did not even include any potato or side unless you paid for them separately, which we chose not to order assuming that the Wedge Salad and some good steaks would be a great meal. Boy, were we wrong. So, for $150 we got a chintzy wedge salad, 2 tough, over-cooked pieces of sub-quality beef, a bite of biscuit, and charged $42 for a bottle of wine that cost $8-$10 off the shelf. After 2 bites of the meat, we packaged it to go for our dogs. Our concerns were met only with, "Yeah, I get that." from the server - and that was it. No apologies, no offer to improve the experience. He was polite but not very attentive. (We did, however, still give him a decent tip as the food quality is not his responsibility) By far the worst quality / quantity of food we've had in a very long time. ...
Read moreI had the driest steak of my life for 48$. I love small business and wanted to support this place despite it being overpriced for Greeley. I would have went back despite my experience but the waitstaff completely ruined it. The person that waited on us or so we thought was so uninformed. We asked âare you our waitress?â She replied ânoâ but she had been serving us the whole time. We asked who our waitress was she replied âI donât know maybe the other lady?â The owners seemed friendly and attentive so we over looked this. We proceeded to enjoy our meal, we didnât love the food, but it was slow and there was only one other table for the three hours we were at the restaurant, I thought that the kitchen was having a rough night. They had clearly microwaved my steak, my mashed potatoes had so many lumps and not a lot of taste. Still I would have came back, but toward the end of our meal the rude staff member began bussing our table while we were finishing (completely normal) but she made at least 5 trips back to the table each time interrupting us to stack plates and hand her things. Once she could no longer buss the table she sat at the next table and stared at us. At this point we just got our things and left. As we were leaving someone from our party said âI guess you canât wait for us to leaveâ to which she replied âyeah Iâm ready to go home my feet hurt, because Iâve been going to the gym.â We were having a nice conversation and there was still the one other table, but I felt like we were forced to leave.
Another thing is the food is really expensive and if you want to split a meal it cost you $10 on top of the $48 youâre already spending. This may be normal for an upscale restaurant but the quality has to be there as well and I felt like it wasnât. Also someone from our party left a review and the owners comment back and were rude.
