WARNING! The French Bakery booth owner charged me $10 for Le Dauphin when the last time I had purchased La Princesse I paid $8. When I asked her why this was, she pointed out that the Dauphin was larger and so it cost more, but the Princesse was still $8. She is always out of those, even at 7:15am. So, at her suggestion, I ordered one ahead of time. When I came this week to pay for it, it was $10! The proprietress denied giving me the other quote last week and pointed to her sticky note where I was supposed to have written my name. It was very much mispelled and written in strange handwriting. So...I can no longer recommend this booth. The honesty of a vendor is very important to me and, although I feel these pastries are much overpriced, they have always been tasty. She has lost my business. Poor policy, indeed!
From last year: This is an outdoor market set alongside stairs and ramps on several levels and manned by very friendly people. It opens at 8 on Wednesdays and is located by getting off the 19 freeway at Expedition, turning west and turning left at the first opportunity. Drive to the back. There is a good variety of wares , including a food truck with great, large Sonoran hot dogs which come with avocado, sautéed onions and many many more toppings on a warm, toasted bun for $4. You will find jewelry, hats, fascinating rocks, purses and wraps. I found super cinnamon bread ($4) and sour dough along with banana bread (two for $4) at another booth. ..There are rugs from Mexico, some fresh produce which is seasonal and a little treasure of a used book store tucked in a corner of the top level. Worth a weekly trip! Please note that the number of booths decreases drastically in the summer, but those with food which were mentioned were...
Read moreThere are so many options at this farmers market. Today I got a turquoise necklace fixed because the string was broken, picked up two loaves of freshly-made bread from Pat - 1 cranberry and the other cinnamon raisin, and bought a sterling silver chain. After having a great Sonora dog as a lunch item, I picked up some freshly roasted nuts and oranges before leaving. These purchases didn't even touch the kinds of things that can be explored, purchased or understood while...
Read moreI am a vendor at this market (Mugwumpers Mugs) and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys browsing a large variety of artists and fares. Coffee, produce, food, are all there to enjoy. The market runs from 9:00 to 1:00 every Wednesday and offers over 100 vendors. The drive from Tucson is pleasant, too. Bring your friends, your dog, and yourselves and enjoy a fun morning at the Green Valley Farmers Market at the Green Valley Village at...
