First of all I have to say I have been a shopper of the two American Thrifts one in Ockechoobee WPB, and Lake Worth since they opened. . Today a woman who didn't give me her name or identified herself as store worker(no Cia. Vest on) told me: I noticed you come to shop often to the store, I say yes.she continue by saying she noticed I look at thingss specially purses and leave them everywhere, she implied that I make a mess in the store. I had to stopped her, first I asked her name and position which at first she refused to tell me. I had to asked her again she finally did tell me. I told her to please show me the camera to see when a and where I was making a mess. I am a very considerate person who always puts things back and in place if I choose not to buy them. I also started to speak English and she said Spanish, which I answer I will speak whatever language I choose to, besides this is the United Srates of America you supposed to speak English. So nasty and disrespectful. My question is: Where do they find these workers who need training and manners. On top saying to me something it is not so. I can't believe this disrespectful person. Advise to owners and HR: Please choose and train your workers better. Idont want to have to go somewhere else for my shopping. The owners & cashiers know I had spent thousands of dollars in these stores specially at the location in Lake Worth. I must say I used yo love the two stores, but the atmosphere has become very toxic, the majority of the workers I heard them complaining about the hard work they have to do, and the low pay they received. Prices are now high for a thrift store, when coming in into the store at Lake Worth location there's always a faul smell. The workers there never last long. I must say with Ana the recent store .manager the store prices are ridiculous. The clothes are nice, and reasonable in prices, but other, items not worth the high prices. I found a great thrift store in town I have been going which is good in prices, pleasent people working there, and very clean, no smell, and non profit. Thanks God for...
Read morePros: Great price on clothing, though some have stains/tears. Yes, expensive brand-names will cost a bit more. Obviously. Still a great deal (I’ve gotten a dress with original tags labeled $70, for $25). I also got a brand new cashmere sweater for $10. If you want to sort through nasty, stained, brand-less items for $2, those thrift stores exist. Great books, artwork, general household items at a fair price. Especially the artwork! Folks who think it’s all overpriced, go to a normal store and compare. Dressing rooms: they have them. Many thrift stores don’t. If you’re a size S or XS, you’ll have SO many options! Larger sizes go first because #America.
Cons: The aisles are way too tight, and a lot of other customers are very inconsiderate if you’re trying to get by. The check-out line can be insanely long, even when every register is manned. There’ve been a few times where I’ve shopped for a while, only to change my mind because I didn’t have time to wait in line. Dressing rooms are disgusting. Tons of dirt and dust. I’ve lived in barns so I’m not usually grossed out. The line can also sometimes be too long. I donated 4 massive bags of clothing and shoes, and didn’t even receive a thank you. Considering this store is for-profit so I was essentially handing them money, I highly suggest you have staff give a simple “thank you”, and I had to ask and wait for a donation tax slip. If you don’t speak Spanish, you’ll struggle if you need help. My full cart was once “stolen” after I’d spent an hour perusing. I tried to get help since it seemed more likely that staff took it to the back than another shopper having taken it, and they couldn’t understand me, so I had to leave with no items and wasted time. That said, it’s Florida, so I should probably learn Spanish. The parking lot can be sketchy. Twice I’ve had people follow me to my car and ask for money. I gave one $5 and he rudely demanded more. I drive a 13yo beater, not a Mercedes lol.
I’ll continue coming here and recommending other friends do, but will likely only go as soon as they open, since it’s...
